Is it me or was this EPISODE 9 a let down?

Maybe this is a bit exaggerated. However:

They are doing Kings Landing really well. But the wall and Dany are less interesting and a lot of stuff feels like filler. There's no denying the quality this season (and some very well executed parts) but overall I find some parts dragging on and it it feels, in it's entirety, less balanced than previous seasons.

Plus, I felt let down because episode 9 used to be the true shocker. Ned lost his head in season 1, the Blackwater battle in season 2, the red wedding in season 3 and now this? However well some parts were executed it lacked the impact previous episodes had. Which is typical Martin style to change the rules though.

Overall some changes are for the better, but some are plain weird and I'm really trying to figure out what Jon's ending means this episode.

Ace ep, but I must admit I did get a little bored, even though this is meant to be an epic battle for the wall. It didn't feel quite as epic as the books either!

Loved the use of ginger minge too, made me lol.

Only read if you are up to date with this season. It does contain spoilers from the books.

The Battle of Castle Black may have been the biggest action set-piece in Game of Thrones history (and probably TV history, too), but next Sunday’s hour of the HBO hit could be the show’s best episode ever.

Titled “The Children,” the 10th episode of the fourth season will break a narrative pattern that’s been set by the show in previous years. Usually the ninth episode contains a major character death or battle, and the finale is a quieter hour (by Thrones standards, at least) that wraps some storylines while launching other threads for next season. Expect “The Children” to check in with all the key characters and for some major drama to unfold.

“It’s the best finale we’ve ever done, bar none,” Thrones showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss said in a statement. “The performances from our cast, the direction from Alex Graves, the VFX work, the new [music] cues from Ramin Djawadi—all of it came together in perhaps the finest hour we’ve produced. We’re immensely proud of ‘The Children.’ And a little intimidated by the episode, because now we have to get back to the business of season five and figure out a way to top it.”

Of key interest is the fate of Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage), who was sentenced to death at the conclusion of the eighth episode. But there’s also Jon Snow (Kit Harington) marching off to assassinate Mance Rayder (Ciarán Hinds), Arya (Maisie Williams) setting a new course, and you cannot have a Thrones finale without at least one surprise involving the dragon queen (Emilia Clarke). Expect “The Children” to be a longer-than-usual episode, too — HBO’s schedule says the finale is 66 minutes.

Hey sprony, did you say you read the books I can't remember? But I know exactly what's gonna happen in #10 and people are gonna SHIT

:v

I've read everything. Even the comics :)

But this season is different. I really wonder how it will play out with Jon. I hope it isn't a cheap trick to avoid doing the big battle with the entire wildling army and Stannis.

They handled all of danys stuff badly imo. Although her story has been boring as fuck since she reached Mereen. I fell asleep reading her there in the books.

Let's recap what has happened with Daenerys this season.

* She took Mereen and basically made the entire nobility (thats left) hate her
* Her dragons are growing larger and killing sheep

* She got a lover, Daario, who is a mercenary famous for killing and fucking

* She unfriended Ser Friendzone

So yeah, pretty boring over all, but important still, and doesn't really deviate much from the book. As you said, it was pretty fucking boring in the books as well and I think they kept all the highlights. Sprinkled in some perfect tits as well.

Theres a couple of more things that are going to happen to the mereen plot, but with only one episode left and so much stuff happening in Westeros at the moment I think they are going to save that for the next season.

I think the next episode will feature

Tyrion does something shitty

Bran becomes a tree

Arya uses her coin to travel (Valhar Morgulis)

Jon meets his enemies again
Sansa travels to an island

Ends with Stark zombie face
