blackdog Posted March 10, 2015 Report Posted March 10, 2015 Just tried the controller on the PC, feels great! Although it's sensibly lighter and I'm not sure, makes it feel more fragile. I like the sticks and in general the clicky feeling.I still have to try a proper action so not sure, but the triggers feel less analogical, less "springy" if it makes sense. Quote
Mazy Posted March 11, 2015 Report Posted March 11, 2015 BTW this is out today, it's also supposed to be out on PC today. -HP- 1 Quote
Sprony Posted August 28, 2015 Report Posted August 28, 2015 I'm finally starting to consider getting an Xbox One. This change in thinking was caused by the Rare Replay Collection and the Gears remaster. Kinda strange isn't it? Wanting to buy a new console in order to replay old games? Quote
blackdog Posted August 28, 2015 Report Posted August 28, 2015 Yeah, I was quite excited when I heard about the retro compatibility feature, I was ready to look into turning my X360 into some shop for a discount on the One and still be able to finish all the games I haven't yet finished there. I'm probably gonna buy a TV sometime soon so that would make me go back to use the console… I haven't checked the GoW collection though, I'm still bitter I can't finish sting the first on PC though ? I was actually thinking of writing a(n open) letter to MS about it.The old games and discount would give me the incentive to get a One while I wait for Quantum Break. Other games at the moment I can't think about, I'm super happy with my PC!Same goes for the PS4 though, the unveil of Drake's collection, the early remaster of TLOU at the moment makes me a bit more keen on the Sony one. Tisky Posted October 16, 2015 Report Posted October 16, 2015 Sorry for the revival of the thread but i bought one yesterday for a bargain!Got the console (500 gb no kinect) and 2 controls + Fifa 15, Forza 5 and GTA V for $250!!I really do like it so far , really nice UI and control. Any games i shouldnt miss?? Destiny? Metal Gear? Witcher??!? Quote
tr0nic Posted October 20, 2015 Report Posted October 20, 2015 (edited) Woah! Nice deal! I got mine for 260$ CAD - 500gb 1 controller, Forza 5, a year ago.If you think the UI is nice, Microsoft is working on a new UI (windows 10? xbox version) that should go live in a month or two.. because the current ui is slow and messy. My games so far:Diablo RoS (nice couch co-op) Halo Masterchief Collection (4 games into one) I'm going to pick up Halo 5 on october 27thI'm a big fan of the Gears of War series, I'll be also picking up Gears of War Ultimate (remastered version of the first game + 3 more games with Xbox backward compatibility program they will add later) Rare Replay (Collection of 30 games from Developer Rare, including Banjo Kazooie and Conker's Bad Fur Day, Perfect Dark and more) Edited October 20, 2015 by tr0nic Tisky 1 Quote

blackdog Posted June 14, 2016 Report Posted June 14, 2016 So I haven't seen any announcement about the rumoured PS4.5… did MS come out on top announcing Scorpio, their 4K console, first? A über powered xbone coming holiday 2017. The One S looks sick in design, just who wants to invest in their system now that a new console is on the horizon?? Izuno 1 Quote
Sprony Posted June 19, 2016 Report Posted June 19, 2016 I think it's a dumb move announcing it so early. Sony did it better, by just acknowledging that it's being worked on and nothing more. Because what you have now, is a lot of potential buyers simply waiting for the next one to release. There's no reason to invest now. With the graphical fidelity being as good as it is right now, it doesn't matter if you play these games in two years time. Quote

In other words, I theorize there are 4 realistic scenarios being assessed internally at MSFT right now: 1) Stay the course. Try to make Xbox division more profitable, work better with rest of Microsoft, same as usual, etc. 2) Shut Xbox down. Doubt this will happen. 3) Spin it off into a public company. Xbox is large enough but I don't know who has the appetite to underwrite it. 4) Find a buyer and get a (hopefully) cash or mostly cash offer for it. There is another large publicly traded, tech/consumer company headquartered in the Seattle area with balance sheet to buy it...but I forgot the name of it and it's possible said company wants to compete against Xbox and has no interest. But this is all speculation. -HP- 1 Quote

But this is all speculation. I'm sure this said company have their own plans for a gaming division / home console tho, and knowing how much of control freaks they are, buying a company and completely changing it's structure would probably be more work than starting from the ground up. It's fascinating what's going on with Xbox right now, amazing how a platform that was last gen's leader is now in the verge of either detaching itself from Microsoft, or worse. We'll see what will happen in the next 12 to 24 months, but something tells me they're going to get their shit together, and slowly make the Xbox more of a cheap PC that you can buy for your living room. (I mean, the Scorpio has some pretty good hardware for a $300 box) even if I think they made a huge mistake by announcing it to the public a year and a half before it's supposed release.... I do love their move of going open and releasing their games on PC, i think long term this is going to be a decision that's going to favor the Xbox brand immensely, even if I absolutely hate that "Microsoft’s Universal Windows Platform". It's like 1 step forward and 2 steps back with this company... fucking hell. blackdog and Izuno 2 Quote

Yes that reasoning is very sound and I think the odds of said company buying it are very low but I'm very certain there are people attempting to analyze how that might work, even if just for comparative reasons and without serious intent to champion such an initiative. What this leaves us with is, assuming option 4 is chosen, who is the buyer? If not our said company, then someone from Silicon Valley? 10^100...I just don't see it. iFruit in theory could but...I just laugh when I think about that. Either of those companies could but...just I don't see it for a wide range of reasons for both but of course at E3 some people were suggesting either. Think about it yourself and try not to laugh. Then think about offshore companies. There are some big ones that certainly could but again, try no to laugh when you think about it. -HP- 1 Quote
blackdog Posted June 22, 2016 Report Posted June 22, 2016 Oh the buying rumours again… if anyone will, they will end up paying more than it's worth, imo. Quote

I don't think there has been any active talk of a particular company interested in buying Xbox as of yet. Rather, I think there is active analysis going on of "how would Xbox be valued and how could a deal get structured IF Microsoft sold it" but I also agree there is a big risk of it getting overvalued.
