Beck Posted April 5, 2013 Report Posted April 5, 2013 Hi all, I'd like to pick all of your amazing brains and get your opinion on tablets. I'm getting back into mapping in my spare time and want to make custom content for these maps. (Models, textures etc...) Now I have a tablet already but it's not the greatest, it's just some cheap thing. I'm looking at these tablets at the moment: Wacom Intuos 5 Medium Pen and Touch: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Wacom-Intuos5-Medium-Graphics-Tablet/dp/B007F9WIJA/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1365153966&sr=8-2&keywords=wacom+intuos Bamboo Pen and Touch: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Wacom-CTH-470K-DE-Bamboo-Pen-Touch/dp/B005OPKVF0/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1365148154&sr=8-9&keywords=wacom+bamboo#productDetails Or an Intuos 4 Medium. Now, is it worth spending that extra £200 for the Intuos over the Bamboo. I'm not a great artist at all when it comes to drawing, I'd mainly be using it for sculpting in Mudbox or Zbrush. Which would you guys recommend? Cheers for any input! Quote
Kinky Posted April 5, 2013 Report Posted April 5, 2013 I have a Bamboo and an Intuos 3. Aside from the size I honestly dont notice the difference really. I usually end up using the Bamboo just because the A3 Intuos can be awkward for desk space. Personally i wouldnt shell out for an Intuos unless I was getting a big one, then its probably worth the money. Quote
AlexM Posted April 5, 2013 Report Posted April 5, 2013 Yeah I havent been able to tell much difference between the bamboo and the cintiq either. Quote
Vilham Posted April 5, 2013 Report Posted April 5, 2013 heard the ipad is what most pros use these days. Quote
PogoP Posted April 5, 2013 Report Posted April 5, 2013 I use my Samsung Galaxy S2's touch screen display as a graphics tablet. I just use my finger, sometimes my thumb.. It's pretty kickass. Seriously though, Wacom Intuous 3 ftw! Though I don't think they're in production any more. I've had this bad boy for 5-6 years now! Quote
Beck Posted April 5, 2013 Author Report Posted April 5, 2013 Thanks for the input guys! Turns out a friend of mine was selling his Intuos 4 Large (A4) for cheap so I bought it from him. Very happy chappy right now! blackdog and Kinky 2 Quote
