Man, I went from a complete skeptic to a true believer over the course of a weekend. I'm nearing 20 hours and simply nothing has disappointed me so far. It's just that good.

Btw, anybody else experiencing connection issues for the MP? I can't join games and if I can, the connection is lost before the match starts. I Googled and found more people with the same problems (also on consoles).

Yup this game (campaign) is amazing. Im extremely surprised that id managed to turn this one around. Its like an anti-cover shooter :)

Even the glory kills works great and incentivizes your to get in and up close (i also feel like they are executed a bit faster than the E3 demo?). Ive had some really cool moments of being near-dead and then able to make a come back by tearing a couple of demon faces in half

Starting to figure out how all the inputs and outputs work in SnapMap, and have published two maps after some eureka moments. Still unsure how Secret scoring works as defined by score settings. But man do I want more stuff to build with. A fake door cap for doorways would be nice, as some modules have them with no door to control in them, so you could for example hide the small coupler-rooms in the melting furnace module.

Had a chance to play this some more after a break for uncharted, starting to get into it a bit more now after the underwhelming start, enjoyed exploring that foundry level in particular

I don't even know why I bother buying boxed games... You have to download 90% of the game off of steam anyway.

Anyway, you guys weren't kidding the gameplay is absolutely phenomenal. So smooth and fast, I'm loving the game mechanics with the melee kills dropping health and the chainsaw kills dropping ammo, it adds a really interesting gameplay layer.

I wish I was allowed to write like this but unfortunately I can't. Having said that, I fucking love this Doom review. Yes, I needed to swear to do it justice. Not because it's positive but due to how it's written. Trust me, you'll enjoy it and if you still doubt Sprony's wisdom after all these years, here's a quote:

Bethesda, yet again, has proven that first-person shooting, single-player first-person shooting at that, is a living genre, having delivered a game mindful of its heritage and so technically advanced it’s a little like your first threesome: you can’t believe it’s happening.

I think you can sort of "rocket-jump" with the Gauss Cannon in SP (the recoil pushes you away from the projectile), sort of like Half-Life 1's gauss cannon-looking gun. I don't know how to time it properly but I've sent myself flying pretty far a couple of times now and gotten to places I felt were unreachable. Pretty awesome!

Has anyone else experienced any bugs? I've had quite a few in my SP playthrough. I've fallen out of the map about 5 times when performing a glory kill on something. When I came out of the animation I'd just fall through the world. Another bug was my controls just locking up on me completely, unable to shoot, crouch or anything aside from move around. Another was just hard crashes to desktop, though that only happened three times.

I had some weird clipping issues when doing glory kills. Sometimes when new levels started I had a freeze of 10 seconds or so. The only real annoying bug was when I took the train and arrived I couldn't move anymore. Nothing helped, not even rebooting the game. But on the 3rd try I got free by shooting a rocket on my feet.

Regarding the review copies. We asked Bethesda and the reason they gave is that they wanted everyone to be able to test the multiplayer as well. Giving it sooner meant that only reviewers could play it and that wouldn't give the right impression. The same goes for SnapMap. They really wanted us to see both getting used and base our reviews on that. Not just the singleplayer.
