wikipediano Posted July 23, 2005 Report Posted July 23, 2005 How much ram does that huge terrain map needs? 8GB? How much time did he spend compiling that thing? Days? weeks???
InsaneSingingBlender Posted July 24, 2005 Report Posted July 24, 2005 probably spent about 10 seconds compiling, maybe less. not sure about the ram though.
Section_Ei8ht Posted July 24, 2005 Report Posted July 24, 2005 doom 3 reads directally from the map file. All compiling does is render the static shadows, portals, and ai stuff. Doesnt need to compile the any brushes. Take a sp map from doom 3 and compile it, it takes about 30 seconds.
csharp Posted July 25, 2005 Report Posted July 25, 2005 thats great.. why doesnt source do the same :/
D3ads Posted July 31, 2005 Report Posted July 31, 2005 I can't get DoomEdit to run, might have something to do with running a copy of Doom 3 I guess, I mean to buy it sometime but it's not exactly on my priority list at the moment... This is what I get:
DaanO Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 The game that combines strategy, quick thinking and aim best is, by far, minesweep. 79 seconds on expert, beat it baby.
Hipshot Posted August 21, 2005 Report Posted August 21, 2005 The D3E is a more complex and modern engine in the core than source is, and will always be. The problem is that Doom 3 is a bad game in every way I can think of and I hate it like poison.
