The Postman Posted January 12, 2005 Author Report Posted January 12, 2005 That is not an option in this war. Human rights apply to humans, not these types of murderers. First you say you don't know if there's evidence against them, then you label them murderers. Now, I'm not saying they're all innocent, far from it. They got picked up for a reason, now, was it so grievous a reason to take away years of their lives? That's the question. If we are to promote peace, justice and the American Way we must stick to our guns on our policies and be a beacon for the world to look to. Not dropping our rules of justice whenever they see fit. Such lapses in judgement only make our nation as a whole look guilty and powerhungry. It takes from the whole image we'd want to put forth, of a benevolent force, there for the common good, and thwarting the real terrorists and murderers. Label them POWs if you wanna hold them 'til the end of all of this, but that involves admitting that this really is a war, and actually declaring war in the first place. That's a whole 'nother can of worms though.
von*ferret Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 dunno its very complicated and I entrusted my senators and president to make these types of decisions the best way they see fit. Thats why i voted. Will they always make the best decision? Probably not. Do they try? yeah. Do I want their job? yea...no
mawibse Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 Just struck me as I read it, “Human rights apply to humans, not these types of murderers.” is very similar to how terrorists justify there actions. Perhaps The Postman is onto something, I mean if the west with America “at the top” was considered a beacon of truth and justice there would be less terrorists being able to justify their actions in the west, they would find more “appropriate” targets?
DanielAragon Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 mawibse is really on the ball this thread...duffy, tahts a retarded and very apathetic way of looking at it...if everyone thought the way u did, the us would be a lot shittier than it is
Duff-e Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 have to stick to my guns blah blah human kind i <3 everyone......just not my way of thinking...if i KNOW someone who died or something like that im not going to break out the air hockey table and start a tourney.....but its not my problem (insert "omg duffy where is your sense of charity and compassion" below) edit: btw yes its a very apathetic post....that was the point as far as hating the united states with a good reason....lets compare the united to states to counterstrike (dont laugh yet). counterstrike is pretty much undisputed as the #1 first person shooter out there. people hate that idea so much that they cheat just so they can damage the image of the game and get other people to stop playing....that or personal joy (of course some people will have different motives). the UNITED STATES is #1 and if you some how take away from its might it makes you look like tough shit. this is why people hijack planes in the united states and not canada. i need to put this shit in a book or something
The Postman Posted January 12, 2005 Author Report Posted January 12, 2005 That was a terrible fucking analogy.
kleinluka Posted January 13, 2005 Report Posted January 13, 2005 Yes USA is superior to every other country in the world. Americans are the better people, etc.. Hearing americans say these things is what makes other people dislike them. America would be in deep shit if it weren't for the international community and world wide trade. @Duffy: Terrible fucking analogy, indeed.... with emphasis on anal.
