blackdog Posted November 1, 2015 Report Posted November 1, 2015 Paris games week 2015between a rip-off of the hottest property of the last few years and photocopy-demos from E3, Sony managed to keep us up Until Dawn to show off a Matter of Zero (puns intended). The most interesting game is by a DJ, and I don't even like rythm games. This is the most /meh presentation I've ever seen. -HP- Posted March 24, 2016 Author Report Posted March 24, 2016 Sony really seems to have their shit together man. I love the decision of them being very picky with latency on every single VR game. I wont pick this up anytime soon since I'll be getting a Oculus instead, but I see the PS VR becoming very popular and might just single handedly make VR popular due to the better price tag. 2d-chris 1 Quote

Yes, that's what I've been thinking since we got the Oculus price, but mainly the requirements to run VR games. Also, cables. Sensor towers. And tbh, what have Oculus and Valve really shown? The only graphic intensive game shown off has been Eve (which hardly is a VR only experience), on the other hand you see the hi-def stuff that Critek is making that blows shit out of the deepest water. Yeah put those Portal minions and a ticking bomb next to dinosaurs, average consumer is not gonna invest 2K to get started, when with (less than) a quarter can have AAA games and no performance doubts. I'm thinking that Sony and even more Samsung are the only that could actually profit in this first cycle. Thrik 1 Quote
AlexM Posted March 25, 2016 Report Posted March 25, 2016 Yeah I've been hearing the angle about psvr potentially being the winner due to practicality a lot too. Even more interesting is Sony reports they are making a profit on every unit. I'm thinking that I will wait a couple months and see how the people like them before making a choice on which one to get. Any word on how each of them work for people who wear glasses? I remember the rift that I tried being at the very least possible. Quote

PogoP Posted March 25, 2016 Report Posted March 25, 2016 Yep, I worked on PSVR and I could fit the headset easily over my glasses. Quite comfortable actually. AlexM 1 Quote
Sprony Posted April 2, 2016 Report Posted April 2, 2016 I just read this: Quote I presume that this detail is Sony accidentally-on-purpose leaving PSVR's back door open to those VR innovators in the porn industry. PlayStation VR it is! Quote
blackdog Posted April 3, 2016 Report Posted April 3, 2016 Haven't noticed anyone talking about the rumored PS "4.5"... this is the first video I've seen that talks dates and price do you believe? -HP- 1 Quote
Sprony Posted April 5, 2016 Report Posted April 5, 2016 Yeah, it's confirmed by multiple sources just not officially. Sony is completely dominating this generation. I would gladly upgrade and I already have the PSVR in preorder. I love this console. Quote
Thrik Posted April 19, 2016 Report Posted April 19, 2016 Looks like the PS4.5 is definitely happening: http://kotaku.com/more-details-emerge-on-ps4-5-which-reportedly-wont-get-1771708549 I'm not sure how I feel about this. On the one hand if I were to get a 4K TV (which my next one in the next year or so will likely be) it would be nice to have a console that can support it, because the PS4 doesn't have a chance. But I don't like the idea of games being fractured so that they basically run in a lesser mode on the original PS4. Part of me kind of can't believe it, because Sony has always been so good at long-term support of its systems. They've said any PS4.5 games must also run on PS4s, so there's the possibility that they'll force developers to keep performance/graphics equivalent on both — only using the extra power to faciliate 4K and/or VR, which both demand a lot more power than the PS4 can really handle. I guess that another factor is that Nintendo looks like it's going to be releasing a new console this year or next, which could be very powerful indeed. Maybe this is Sony starting to react to what could be a really disruptive move, because if Nintendo were to have a substantially more powerful console and strong developer support they could really stir the pot. It's all getting really interesting, that's for sure. Especially with PCs now devolving to be more console-like and powered via a central platform like Steam. Sigma and -HP- 2 Quote
Pampers Posted April 19, 2016 Report Posted April 19, 2016 Feels a bit early to do so as well, could have waited a year or two Sigma 1 Quote
