KidDynamite Posted January 5, 2005 Report Posted January 5, 2005 thats kinda cool, i loved the original edge Quote
Tequila Posted January 5, 2005 Report Posted January 5, 2005 Thanks for the reply's I'm gonna check out the lightning but don't know if i'm gonna use normal lights or spot lights yet. How says you can't use both? i mean for the fluorescent lights, in lockdown sample map they used spot lights for that Ah, that they did. Depends on the area you're lighting really. Quote
Skjalg Posted January 5, 2005 Report Posted January 5, 2005 hehe, i actually had the excact same idea, but the map got deleted when my STEAM folder went FUBAR after i installed SP2 on my windows XP.. well, you said you the outside there needed some work, try replacing the sorrounding cliffs around with something else, too me, that gets to repetitive and looks like a short way out. But what can be a cliff, is that stair moving up from the outside, up into that higher ground and into the door (the higher ground can still be concrete or whatever, but the road leading up, can be terrain, i remember i did it this way ) You've forgotten about the water in bunker entrance spices stuff a little up there, i think... make the map brighter, its too dark for a fast paced fps map for me.. also, remove that fence in picture1, its in my standard bunnyjumping route, dont make me change it its a classic one ;D nice work, keep it up.. its really nice work if this truly is your first map! Soul Posted January 5, 2005 Author Report Posted January 5, 2005 I'm curious how you're going to place the weapons. What will be in the railgun spot? or the machinegunspot (since you start with a machinegun already..) Obviously the chaingun = pulse rifle.. What about the mega health..just gonna leave that nothing, or will you make a way to get up there and put something there? well i've been asking myself the same question when i began with it because q2 has far more guns then hl². i think the 357 will be the rail gun spot also the crossbow for the grenade launcher and under the stairs maybe some ammo Also the rocket launcher in hl² does far more damage than in q2 and there are 2 rockets launchers in the map bit overpowered also i thought to replace the mega health with a charger like in the lockdown map first off, let me say i like hl2dm non-sequitur maps. I like the outside, but the indoors are extremely simple and boring. They have no character. PS: its an SMG foo strait outa compton i know there isn't allot of detail thats because if you stand on the little balcony with the long window and look at the direction of that room fps drops hard, i'm trying to use some aeroportals but its very hard to trigger them open and close them in such open area's Quote
Soul Posted January 6, 2005 Author Report Posted January 6, 2005 Did some experimenting with dust particles in hallway: I know its dark but i'm gonna add some more lights All my point_spotlight's were dynamic when i turned dynamic off, i got 70 fps more so i can add some more detail now Quote
hamst3r Posted January 7, 2005 Report Posted January 7, 2005 yea, the map looks good, but the lighitng could look alot better.... the edge was alright, but.....WareHouse forever! Quote
W01f Posted January 14, 2005 Report Posted January 14, 2005 Did some experimenting with dust particles in hallway: I know its dark but i'm gonna add some more lights But it's supposed to be dark! :!: Quote
Minos Posted January 14, 2005 Report Posted January 14, 2005 looks really dm'ish, I love the idea. GJ Quote
von*ferret Posted January 14, 2005 Report Posted January 14, 2005 you NEED color man! Lose the whites, grab some color pallete. Where is RD with his color preaching in here? Quote
spacer Posted January 16, 2005 Report Posted January 16, 2005 Yeah, I think it'd look better if you kept the original red/orange colour for the lighting . Quote
MJ Posted January 16, 2005 Report Posted January 16, 2005 Yeah, I think it'd look better if you kept the original red/orange colour for the lighting . thank you ! i've said that in the first thread page.. keep it orange/red! Quote
Soul Posted January 17, 2005 Author Report Posted January 17, 2005 i experimented a bit with lightning, i'm a real noob when it comes to that the outside color now is a light orange as you can see in the pic (upper mid), im going to search for another skybox texture for this. other lights are more yellowish, also the little lower hall where the rocket launcher is, has red lights I will probably delete 2 of those hanging lamps because the lightning is a bit overkill for such a small area ? I don't have allot of time to work on the map atm Quote
ReNo Posted January 17, 2005 Report Posted January 17, 2005 I think having four lights is fine, but you may want to spread them out a little as they seem very focused at the centre of the room. I'd lose or change the lights fixed to the wall though, they don't look very good in my opinion. Quote
