PogoP Posted September 24, 2013 Report Posted September 24, 2013 At least with Ocarina of Time they completely re-did all the old art, it just seems they've upressed it in this, and added in some fancy new rendering effects. Definitely not enough to make me want a Wii U. Quote
Thrik Posted September 24, 2013 Report Posted September 24, 2013 I agree that it's no system seller. I'll definitely pick a Wii U up at some point, but where the fuck are all the amazing Nintendo games that always prompted me to buy their consoles in the past? Buying a Nintendo console has always been about getting your hands on those sweet-ass first-party experiences yet they're nowhere to be found about a year after launch...? As for Wind Waker HD, to be honest it just delivers exactly what Wind Waker fans have been wanting for years: the opportunity to easily enjoy it in high resolution with no compromises made to the textures, etc — and with some improvements to the game's original flaws like a slightly pain-in-ass inventory/map and slow sailing (I didn't mind the first time but I don't think I can handle it a second time). Did anyone really want a complete remake like Conker or MGS? I kind of wish they'd also increased the poly count on more things, but where do you stop with that and when does it start changing the game's art direction which is built around those slightly angular shapes? At least they redid all the textures. Anyway it's going to make a lot of fans happy and that's what matters. Unless you really hate bloom it's about as faithful and perfect an upgrade as it gets. Now stop FUCKING about with Zelda and get this shit released in HD Nintendo. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQT7-Uy9E9I -HP- 1 Quote
Minos Posted September 24, 2013 Report Posted September 24, 2013 This is not a rom lol, it's a full port just like Ocarina for the 3DS. They actually rework controls, art etc.. Well if they don't recreate a new engine, what is the difference between porting, annnd emulating ? You can adapt the controls and tweak the gameplay a bit, but i can't help but feel like it is a scam. Especially since i rebuy quite the same content for another platform and they didn't changed 90% of that said content. If it was on shelves at 15 € as a "port" why not, but seriously, not the full 60€ of a new license. It's fanboyism abuse I don't get your logic Kokoz., they are not marketing it as brand new or as a complete remake. Sony did the same with Shadow of the Colossus/ICO (HD res and 60fps) and they were awesome on the PS3... I agree about the price point though, this should cost 29 or so. That's what I hate about Nintendo, their games never go down in price. KoKo5oVaR 1 Quote
KoKo5oVaR Posted September 24, 2013 Report Posted September 24, 2013 Thing is, i don't have anything about remakes, it's the price that i find to be a fraud. Basically when you buy a game 40€ for example, you of course pay the material support cd/dvd/box, and the others 95% of the price are the rights you buy to be able to own it at home. When you download a rom on your HDD to be played on emulator, it is illegal; except if you already bought the game on its default support and own these rights. So my point is : if i bought a vinyl of the beatles with ten songs on it, i pay the rights to own the songs and the price of the vinyl. Respectively, 9€ and 1€ let's say. If the same songs come out on another support, and i want to have it on CD : should i pay only the price of the port ( change of support (CD) ) ? or should i pay again the same rights i own already for the same content + the price of the CD ? What you think ? So i don't know how it's legally justified; maybe they manage to make Zelda : the wind waker © and Zelda : the wind waker HD © two different brands ? So that should justify the full price of a new license ? I can't help but find it to be a method that get it deep into the *** of the consumer. I think that if you already own Zelda : the wind waker; you should only be paying the price of the support and the slight changes they made. Not rebuy all the rights for the same content. Sprony Posted September 30, 2013 Report Posted September 30, 2013 (edited) Although a bit off topic, but still, it is this thread that brought me to this rant. Nintendo has always excelled in clearing out your wallet. The Wii was cheap for sure. But if you need extra stuff (nunchucks and Wii motes anyone?) you would pay a fair price. Combine all that together and the Wii was actually a pretty expensive system. The only reason they got away with it because the fanboys will pay it anyway and most of the stuff, you really needed. Just look at the second hand market for old Nintendo systems. Look at what they dare to ask for Gamecube, NES or SNES games. You can probably buy 5 Genesis games for 1 SNES game. Trust me, I know (this is the case in the Netherlands but Ebay gives the same impression worldwide). The same goes for the pricing of games. It's not like the Windwaker is new in this. Hell, it's not even that expensive since the original still goes for around 40 on the second hand market. A friend of mine is a diehard Nintendo fan. Something I don't get. I loved Nintendo as kid but I quit in the Gamecube era. Another Mario? Another Zelda? Another Metroid? Another Donkey Kong? Yes, there are excellent games in those series and yes, they do try to keep innovating them but I just grew tired of it. Regardless of what new features they introduced it always felt the same. Perhaps I'm the only one in this, I don't know. My friend called me all excited about the new Mario. I played it and thought, nice graphic overhaul. Lost interest in 5 minutes. I'm not hating, I just don't understand why older gamers don't grow tired of it. The new generation I understand. Hell, if I have kids I'll buy them Nintendo too. Wait...does this mean.....no.....did I simply.......grow up???? But seriously, who in they're right mind launches a system which is not that much ahead of the current generation (which is 7 years old) without a killer lineup to sell it? Yeah, a gamepad with a screen. Nice gimmick but I didn't pay a shitload of money for a big screen TV to game on a small screen. If I wanted that I would have bought a 3DS. Anyways, enough ranting. You guys have fun though. TL:DR - Fuck Nintendo, You guys enjoy it! Edited September 30, 2013 by SpronyvanJohnson Quote
Kedhrin Posted September 30, 2013 Report Posted September 30, 2013 yeah i was really surprised my WiiU didn't come with a Wiimote or the pro controller. i love nintendos games, but i do think the hardware schemes are rough The 3DS-XL is still, imo, the greatest console ever made. Quote
