Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch is a role-playing game developed and published by Level-5 in collaboration with world-famous animation company Studio Ghibli. The game puts the player in the role of Oliver, a 13 year old boy who, after his mother's death, is transported to a parallel world, and goes on a quest to bring her back to life.

I'm not much of a JRPG fan except maybe a few games like Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy (7 & 9), but this game has had me excited since I first heard about it. Everything I've seen and heard since then have just added to that. It's coming 22 january to US and 1 february to EU. I can't wait!!! :)

it's also for nintendo ds if you're into that shit.

some of the cell shaded games on ps3 looked fantastic like eternal sonota... too bad the game was sooo fairy-like i couldn't sit through it no matter how good the art was...

and the gameplay got super repetitive... waaaaayyy too JRPG.

this definitely looks like a traditional JRPG.... but hopefully the pacing is good :)

Been playing this for the past 2 or 3 weeks and it is shaping up to be one of the best games I have played in a long time! Since I was playing Rogue Galaxy before starting this I kinda knew what to expect and I'm glad they fixed a lot of annoyances in Ni No Kuni (like super messy inventory, soul crushing crafting system etc...).

The battle system actually works pretty well (I didn't have the best impression when I played the demo) and leveling/acquiring familiars is fun (except for their level being reset to 1 when they evolve :S)

Anyway, pretty good JRPG with lots to do and no convoluted menus/storyline (like FF XIII-2) so you can actually focus on making progress instead of figuring out where to go.
