D3ads Posted June 26, 2013 Report Posted June 26, 2013 So I just got back from seing this epic failure of a film, if you're thinking of watching it don't bother; - It's two hours long, which might seem long enough but with all the content it's trying to fit in, it really isn't. - The best part of the film located in Israel is just 15 minutes long, seriously... it's like they get there and then all Hell breaks lose and they have to leave again... wtf?! - There's no depth to any of the characters, the chemistry between them apart from Gerry and his family is nill, the random IDF girl he picks up long the way says about 5 words to him and I couldn't care less if she or anyone else lived or died. - The dialogue is such generic banal drivel... "You didn't lose any family, you don't know how it feels!" "...actually I lost my loved ones in Rome..." "Oh... I'm sorry" What...?! - Of all the locations in the world you could pick, the film ends in... (via a flight from Belarus airlines ) Wales. I mean I've got nothing against Wales but seriously? They couldn't have come up with a more interesting location than that, considering the budget they had?! - The storylines for the other countries that are not visited at the end are more interesting and in-depth than any of the places in the film itself, why couldn't they have used some of those? The only other good thing in the film other than the Israel location is the storyline about North Korea not being infected because they pulled out the teeth of everyone in the country, genius! I will never watch such utter garbage ever again, in fact I need to read the book because it sounds a Hell of a lot better than this mess... avoid! robert.briscoe 1 Quote
selmitto Posted June 30, 2013 Report Posted June 30, 2013 (edited) Hmm I liked the movie! I didn't know there was a book, and obviously didn't read it too. There were a few moments that were ridiculous, but the overall effects and visuals were great. Lots of tension. It gave me an urge to play L4D2! Edited June 30, 2013 by Al Anselmo~Intelect0 Quote
⌐■_■ Posted June 30, 2013 Report Posted June 30, 2013 (edited) just seen it in the theater with the 3d stuff. really enjoyed it but I haven't read the books, so I was not expecting my interpretation of something I read. it's a just really good action movie imho, cool shots all over the place and (for an action movie) a solid story (yes yes, nothing like the book whatever). so I'm actually glad I went oh yeah, like D3ads wrote, the whole Israël afair was kinda off with the rest of story. also, the zombies climbing over the huge wall and getting the chance to form a massive stairs of bodies while choppers are shown patrolling the walls continuesly in broad daylight..? come on.. also: not sure what the virus was all about.. was expecting some explaination but that never happened. then, boom. the end. still though, better then prometheus. selmitto Posted June 30, 2013 Report Posted June 30, 2013 (edited) Exactly the same here. I watched in 3D.. And differently from other 3D movies I've watched, there were many shots that made good use of the technology. I hope the industry keeps getting better in justifying the 3D, instead of just using it in a roller coaster scene Edited June 30, 2013 by Al Anselmo~Intelect0 Quote
Brander_Rly Posted July 7, 2013 Report Posted July 7, 2013 While people keep going to the movies just for the coke and popcorn we'll only have films like this. -HP- 1 Quote
Minos Posted July 7, 2013 Report Posted July 7, 2013 I'm reading the book now and it's light years better than the movie. It's so misleading that this movie is even called World War Z because as others have said they share almost nothing in common. The book is a lot more about how different parts of the world reacted to the zombie infestation, while the movie is just an over the top action flick with supermen zombies. One thing that is not clear in the movie is that the story is an alternate history one, which makes it a lot more interesting than similar zombie stories (for example, in the book there's the palestine people finally have their state and a civil war is going on in Israel during the outbreak etc). Anyway, had they followed the book more closely this would be one hell of an original movie... but they decided to go the safe route instead since they were spending so much money on this (kinda like I Am Legend, and they completely fucked up the ending to please the sheeple audience). Buddy Posted July 8, 2013 Report Posted July 8, 2013 Watched it, had fun but the movie wasn't perfect. I'd give it 7 but -1 for crashing a volvo. 6/10! -HP- and dkm 2 Quote

dux Posted July 18, 2013 Report Posted July 18, 2013 (edited) Why is everyone so surprised that the film is poor and is nothing like the book? It's hollywood, they have to make it accessible to your average person. And they consider the average person as intelligent as a trash can that feeds itself popcorn. And what was the last summer "blockbuster" that made you think? They are always bang bang boom boom. Personally, I'm waiting for hollywood to make Deus Ex into a film. How fucking terrible would that be. Edited July 18, 2013 by dux Quote
