FrieChamp Posted November 9, 2012 Report Posted November 9, 2012 Seeing that this is more of a social experiment than a 'game' I cannot help but be reminded of in 'The Dark Knight'. Maybe Molyneux has gone insane and hid the codes for a nuclear missile in the cube. Or maybe not. Quote

Corwin Posted November 9, 2012 Report Posted November 9, 2012 The first person to unlock the cube... dies. That's a life-changing experience right there, it's got to be it! Thanks for saving me the trouble of hacking at a cube for 10 years! Thurnip 1 Quote
Thrik Posted November 14, 2012 Author Report Posted November 14, 2012 Interesting technical article about the complete screw-up that this game has become (still almost impossible to join due to overloading): Death by Million Cubes Quote
Mazy Posted November 14, 2012 Report Posted November 14, 2012 What if the person that finds out whats inside the cube is Peter Molyneux? Quote
Chimeray Posted November 14, 2012 Report Posted November 14, 2012 (edited) What if... there's a cube inside the cube? And that cube is procedural as well meaning the cycle keeps on going forever... "Look guys, I totally wasted your time. The things you do for curiosity, lolz!" And the picture on that cube must be a facepalm. I'm actually really curious what's inside, well played Molyneux, well played sir Edited November 14, 2012 by Chimeray Quote
Sentura Posted November 14, 2012 Report Posted November 14, 2012 i read a hangar 16 review of half life map years back that put a similar scenario into an otherwise very plain map. quote, "[...] maybe there's portal to the best map ever made. maybe, and most likely, there is nothing." Quote
Taylor Posted November 15, 2012 Report Posted November 15, 2012 It needs to feed into the other 21 experiments. I was thinking it's a job offer but if they don't take it then it's GG. Quote
Thrik Posted May 26, 2013 Author Report Posted May 26, 2013 Wow it's finally open. Wonder if the winner will share. Quote
blackdog Posted May 26, 2013 Report Posted May 26, 2013 Wow it's finally open. Wonder if the winner will share. There's an NDA inside the cube Thurnip 1 Quote
Thrik Posted May 26, 2013 Author Report Posted May 26, 2013 All right, I'm happy with that. Pretty cute idea, the winner gets a nice bit of monetary compensation, and it could have some really interesting gameplay implications for the rest of us (Godus is definitely a game I'm looking forward to anyway). It's also kind of nice how the prize is tied into the god game genre that is so dear to Molyneux. Quote
Sentura Posted May 26, 2013 Report Posted May 26, 2013 i suddenly feel bad for backing godus... blackdog 1 Quote
Zyn Posted May 26, 2013 Report Posted May 26, 2013 Well, here's your winner: https://twitter.com/Bryanh559 And the internet is hard at work finding out what kind of person he is and judging him from that, of course. Quote
Chimeray Posted May 26, 2013 Report Posted May 26, 2013 (edited) I disagree, I think it's a bad idea to push someone into a creative position which will directly affect his pay cut. Will he decide interesting/fun rules, or decide to design rules that will get him the most amount of money out of the project? Perhaps that's part of the experiment as well, who knows But what am I saying anyways... I'm pretty sure I would be trolling everyone to the best of my abilities PS: The selection criteria is also super odd, were they just trying to gain some easy cash so they could make that god-game? Cos otherwise they might as well just have made a registration page and selected someone randomly, no? What was the purpose of Curiosity? Edited May 26, 2013 by Chimeray Quote
