Thrik Posted October 8, 2012 Report Posted October 8, 2012 (edited) hey how easy is it to make a new theme for this software, i feel like we need some options It's hard enough maintaining customisations and features with a single theme, so there's no plan for additional themes at this time. This is just a foundation however, so there are certainly going to be changes as time goes on and specific issues are brought up. Refinements already on the list:Potential rethink of how forums are shown on the home page, so instead of being a conventional long list they could be shown side by side (at least on larger screens)Toggle to hide sidebarMore sidebar content to increase usefulness (latest comments, statuses, etc) Edited October 8, 2012 by Thrik selmitto, Rick_D, -HP- and 2 others 5 Quote
Rick_D Posted October 8, 2012 Report Posted October 8, 2012 Alright. Thanks for the explanation. Can I make some requests? Remove "Veteran/Regular/Administrator" tags; remove the little dots (where it says Admin for you and just *** for the rest of us); and remove post count; shrink avatar size by 25%. This will raise the quality of the entire forum by 7 points. Quote
Thrik Posted October 8, 2012 Author Report Posted October 8, 2012 Removing some of the profile clutter is definitely OK, that's what I did with the last forums actually but it's not something I've gotten round to yet. I'll condense it to just the usernames, avatars, and job/location info. I'm not convinced avatar sizes need to be messed around with as they've pretty much just been taken from the sizes they were before, and unless I re-process all the images again which takes ages and kills the server existing ones will remain the same size as they were imported. If others raise this as an issue I'll look into it though. Anyone else who has things to suggest by all means do, as I'll be referring to this thread and the announcement post when trying to figure out what to improve. Rick_D 1 Quote
PogoP Posted October 8, 2012 Report Posted October 8, 2012 (edited) I kinda think it's a bit harder to distinguish between posts now. Is there a way to make every other post a slightly different colour (like a blue colour), to further distinguish between posts? I think I've seen that on some forums before. Either that or just some sort of outline to keep the posts separate? I think the League of Legends forums does it well: http://euw.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?t=867474 Edited October 8, 2012 by PogoP Quote
Vilham Posted October 8, 2012 Report Posted October 8, 2012 Liam is once for right, its harder to see the boundaries than on the old forum layout, makes it hard to read quickly. Quote
El Moroes Posted October 8, 2012 Report Posted October 8, 2012 (edited) I don't know if it's the right topic to talk about this but in my resolution (1200px * 1600px) the forum can't be fully visible. Here is a screen to show you how I'm seeing it : http://i.imgur.com/X9JmE.jpg Edited October 8, 2012 by moroes Quote

I still need to do some tweaking of colours and such as I agree some tones are a little light right now, particularly now I'm looking at it on my work monitor which is a bit less forgiving of subtle shades. I'll revisit it this evening to ensure posts are clearly distinguished. I'll look into making the minimum width the forum accepts a bit smaller, and also the sidebar toggle option will probably make things more comfortable for you. Thrik Posted October 8, 2012 Author Report Posted October 8, 2012 They still appear when you hover over usernames and/or go into someone's profile, but having just taken a quick look at the old forums I see we used to display both post counts and registration dates so perhaps I can restore those now some of the other clutter has been taken out. Anyone else miss post counts and/or registration dates? Quote
insta Posted October 8, 2012 Report Posted October 8, 2012 I like that you get notifications when someone quotes you and stuff, I am already loving this new theme or whatever its called! Forum? Layout? Code? -HP- 1 Quote
insta Posted October 8, 2012 Report Posted October 8, 2012 Also the quick-reply thing is hella nice, I've made so many posts already, its like a neural-net hookup straight into my brain department. Quote

Sentura Posted October 8, 2012 Report Posted October 8, 2012 (edited) bg color -> alternate between #BFEFFF and #C3E4ED or similar, instead of white plx. also smaller margins between avatar, post div and frame? also not sure why the text fucks like this Edited October 8, 2012 by Sentura Quote
