Mazy Posted September 18, 2012 Report Posted September 18, 2012 Sad, they've definitely had a large impact on the industry as a whole and I'll always have immense respect for both of them for Baldur's Gate, even if Bioware has kinda lost some of it's mojo in the last few years. The reason sounds legit enough as they explain it, but I do wonder if SWTOR not meeting expectations might have something to do with this too. Extremely expensive venture that didn't seem to pay off in the end, wouldn't be completely unrealistic to see heads roll for something like this. Quote
-HP- Posted September 18, 2012 Report Posted September 18, 2012 Damn... this is so unexpected. Must be hard to turn your back to the company you founded only to let it be run by a greedy publisher. Quote
Minos Posted September 19, 2012 Report Posted September 19, 2012 relevant: Didn't EA also start a casual games studio a while ago and named it Bioware? lol Quote
Erratic Posted September 19, 2012 Report Posted September 19, 2012 they also overwrote origin systems from their records by naming their digital distribution sysytem after it. Quote

There have been some rumors floating around twitter that this leaving also coincides with the amount of time they were contractually obligated to stay at Bioware after the buyout. On a different note, I wasn't really feeling their games by the time KOTOR came out. Granted I'm not a big SW fan. I just kind of wish they would have just done a Baldurs Gate 3, with all the difficulty and play options. Quote
