Sprony Posted September 11, 2012 Report Posted September 11, 2012 Grey has been released and apparently, it scares the shit out of people. There's a lot of positive buzz going around about this mod. Check it out here. I'm going to give it a go tonight. Quote

Sprony Posted September 11, 2012 Author Report Posted September 11, 2012 Oh, that's too bad to hear. I read great things about it and it got me all excited. Of course I'll still check it out but only less excited Quote
ShockaPop Posted September 11, 2012 Report Posted September 11, 2012 I've been reading from comments/reviews, how mostly the scary things in Grey are actually jumpscares.. *sigh* Seriously, when can we get a proper horror game that doesn't involve *SUDDEN LOUD NOISE WITH SOMETHING QUICKLY APPEARING ON YOUR SCREEN OUT OF FUCKING BLUE* elements as the main (and/or only) scare of horror-elements? I'm kind of sick how I get all excited of new horror mod being released (like Cry of Fear) just to notice, it's basically just fucking jumpscares. Damn people, get the fuck creative with that stuff already! I enjoyed Penumbra series alot (well, the first two obviously as they had story), because it wasn't jumpscare-shit. Sure, it had few spots that made you probably jump, but the real horror was the feel that you're just a helpless twat in some arcticbase without proper power to kill anyone (at least in Black Plague) and how the immersion was built with, sneaking gameplay, sounds and music and other interactive stuff. /rant about jumpscare games being "horror games". Sprony Posted September 11, 2012 Author Report Posted September 11, 2012 You guys really demotivated me Quote
Thrik Posted September 11, 2012 Report Posted September 11, 2012 SCP-087 is a master class in producing a feeling of dread and tension without really resorting to jump scares. Its technology and gameplay is limited (only a small EXE) but if you read this: http://www.scp-wiki.net/scp-087 Then download the tiny Unity package here: http://downloads.phpnuke.org/en/downloa ... CP-087.htm It should do its job. Unless you read or watch anything about it all by Googling it, in which case you'll just ruin it and it won't work. Headphones and dark room recommended, of course.
