Not watched the trailer yet but I hope they don't force Peace Walker on us to get the plot. Portable Ops was set in the MGS3 era too but it was all pretty non-essential stuff as I understand it.

looks really cool although wet/night time is much easier to make than realistic sunny daytime.

a big change of pace in the gameplay department would be greatly welcome ... i guess i gotta play peacewalker for story now...

Oh god, just watched the trailer. Oh god.

I definitely feel like I've missed something having not played Peace Walker, and I suspect a lot of people never will. So hopefully there's some kind of fill-in cutscene or something that explains the basics, although the gist I got was that prior to this game Big Boss and his boys eventually set up Outer Heaven and have a big-ass army and base(s) at their disposal. Presumably this game deals with how things go sour from there...? The fall of Big Boss? Totally want to see that.

No idea who the scarred dude and Paz are, though. Ah well, I'm sure more will become clear as usual with MGS trailers. Looks fuckin' great, though.

That's amazing omg!

Loving the wet shaders too, they're very sharp, makes the overall image looks very photo realistic while still keeping a touch of a stylized image.

Interesting to see how the more open levels will play with sneaking, and adding vehicles will add even more variety. I think that's what this game is gonna be about, it will probably play more or less the same as MGS4 but with a lot more variety. It if it aint broken, dont fix it right.

I bought them and played MGS2 and MGS3, was going through Peace Walker in when I had to ship my shit here, but will resume it as soon as I have it again. Games look much better and smoother than the originals, some textures were even retouched a notch, specially in MGS3.

Dammit. I never had any playstation so I never played MGS for more than 5 minutes. I know I'm missing this but I think this is going to be one of those games that I can only jizz from the outside instead of getting in the experience.

I'm not actively watching it but while it was up for like 10 seconds just now I noticed Phantom Pain footage was showing, so I guess that pretty much concludes the speculation about that.
