RedYager Posted August 23, 2012 Report Posted August 23, 2012 Very interesting, you brought up some things I've always wondered about. I often use BMD view to look at some of the levels, Still haven't worked out what Windfall Island is called though Quote
Thrik Posted August 23, 2012 Report Posted August 23, 2012 This looks great! One of my favourite games and am looking forward to going through this. Quote
Warby Posted August 23, 2012 Author Report Posted August 23, 2012 thanks guys what is bmdview ? Quote
RedYager Posted August 23, 2012 Report Posted August 23, 2012 Its a program you can use to view game levels in games such as Mario Karts (DD onwards), Mario sunshine, galaxy and the Zelda's ect, Plus you can view objects and characters and are even able to export as .Obj. So you can fly around and get up close to things, and use debug commands. People have used it to put Zelda levels in Mario Galaxy, crazy shit. Wind waker in OOT (!!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F8Dk5Bro0XU Sunshine in Galaxy This dudes not only brought the levels in, but gameplay and NPC's too Wind Waker in Galaxy if you'd like me to sort you out with it, let me know Quote

Warby Posted August 23, 2012 Author Report Posted August 23, 2012 yeah seriously mind == blown so i take all these games use the same engine than ?! Quote
Thrik Posted August 23, 2012 Report Posted August 23, 2012 Just read the thread, an excellent thread. I was pretty impressed by how they did the whole sea/tessellation/scrolling texture thing. Wind Waker really was an absolute wonder of design. When it came out I was totally bowled over by how good it looked, even down to things like having (what looked like) depth of field and shit like that. It was just beautiful from start to finish and an absolute masterclass in sophisticated game production. Quote
RedYager Posted August 23, 2012 Report Posted August 23, 2012 yeah seriously mind == blown so i take all these games use the same engine than ?! I think its more map and texture format, but all that stuff from Nintendo is likely on the same engine, or offspring's. Quote
