Rick_D Posted August 18, 2012 Report Posted August 18, 2012 Hey. I installed ATI7950, and I have no sound at all. Disabled the AMD stuff in device manager, checked bios - but there's zero relevant options for audio in my bios setup it seems. Catalyst control center is unhelpful to the point of being offensive, AMD site offers no help, nothing else seems to work. Anyone had experience with this kind of shit before? I am about tempted to just go back to Nvidia, it's been about 5 years since I last used ATI and now I remember why I hated their products. They still haven't learned from Nvidia and I sincerely hope they go out of business ;_; Quote
Puddy Posted August 18, 2012 Report Posted August 18, 2012 Okay, well, I believe AMD changed how audio was handled with their 7xxx-series (which I've got too). During the driver install, I think there's a check box for installing this new way of handling audio. You could try reinstalling your drivers with this option disabled just to see if things work any better. Is this only a problem when the audio goes "through" the GPU (like via an HDMI cable to a TV or something like that) or is it ALL audio, regardless of output (speakers, headphones etc)? Quote
Chimeray Posted August 19, 2012 Report Posted August 19, 2012 Might be obvious but: Right-click on that sound icon in the tray in the bottom right corner, playback devices. Then choose (set default, apply) AMD HDMI output for stuff that goes to your TV, or speakers for your PC. Hope that helps? I had to do this all the time with my laptop at home, for some reason it didn't detect what output I was using... Quote
