Chimeray Posted June 21, 2014 Report Posted June 21, 2014 (edited) Doing an MGS 1–4 marathon soon in preparation for MGS5, which will probably just about be out by the time I get through them, lol. Might need to play Peace Walker as well! I didn't know it was canon so when I read the "what happened before" in MGS V: GZ I got everything spoiled haha! Dunno what to do really cos I have it lying around in the HD collection... Should I just go play that one first despite having read all the spoiler text or should I just continue with MGS V: GZ and not give a fuck? Edited June 21, 2014 by Chimeray Quote

I picked up the HD collection recently and went back to it. The Mother Base building alone is still great. If you're worried about story however, I've played MGS 1 - 4 a few times each and I still have no clue what's going on... Sentura 1 Quote

-HP- Posted September 18, 2014 Author Report Posted September 18, 2014 Some areas look average at best, really not impressed with these new batch of screens. Probably the price to pay for a 1080p / 60fps game that is also multiplatform Quote
Thrik Posted September 18, 2014 Report Posted September 18, 2014 There's a cutscene here: And gameplay: I have to say, this is looking god damn spectacular. I agree with HP that it's perhaps not hitting Battlefield 4 and Far Cry 4 levels of visual richness, but the scale and stealth-orientated gameplay that's being put together looks amazing. I'm also loving the fact that we're going back to the jungle like in MGS3, which remains my favourite in the series. Gameplay has always been the real star of Metal Gear Solid despite its insane stories and cutscenes getting most of the attention, with every single one having impeccable mechanics IMO and genuinely pushing things forward. It's looking like MGS5 is going to be a seriously immersive experience and I just can't wait to be let loose with these environments and gameplay options. I'm actually really excited about the fact that this is going to run at 1080p and 60 FPS on the new-gen consoles. Considering that there are still relatively few games actually doing this — and that MGS itself hasn't done this since MGS2 — I think it's going to make a much bigger difference than how astonishing it looks in screenshots. Also, is it me or do these characters look excellent? I'm borderline attracted to that woman in the first video. And Snake and Ocelot just look hardcore. -HP-, Grinwhrl and AyzOn 3 Quote

DrywallDreams Posted September 19, 2014 Report Posted September 19, 2014 That hair and the DoF, it hurts. The technical art is certainly made for TVs. Quote
Pericolos0 Posted September 19, 2014 Report Posted September 19, 2014 looks phenomenal, though the environments are suffering a bit from very simplistic lighting -HP- 1 Quote
