Kirils Posted May 15, 2012 Report Posted May 15, 2012 Greetings guys, i just create my list of what i'm going purchase to build my PC, i just want to hear from you any advice: may be i can change some parts of this list e.t.c Here is a list (total $14.000): I have read throw forums about Quadro vs nvidia gtx. Quadro is like overpriced, but gtx has remedies with Maya e.t.c and it's like gaming card. So i can not really pick the right video card because as i said there is a lot of debate. Programs that i'm using now: [*:vuefny5o] Luxology Modo [*:vuefny5o] Zbrush [*:vuefny5o] UDK [*:vuefny5o] After effects [*:vuefny5o] 3ds max/maya (may be in future) Thank you! Quote
kleinluka Posted May 15, 2012 Report Posted May 15, 2012 Welcome to Mapcore, but JEEEESSSUSSSSS.... $14k for a new computer???? Quote
Thrik Posted May 15, 2012 Report Posted May 15, 2012 Holy Christ! Welcome to MapCore, but like Klein I'm too bewildered at the price tag to comment further at this time. I'll come back in a bit! Quote
-HP- Posted May 15, 2012 Report Posted May 15, 2012 I think if you throw a spoiler on there, I'm pretty sure that rig would do 200MPH on the highway. Quote
Warby Posted May 15, 2012 Report Posted May 15, 2012 welcome ... thats an odd first post though i gotta say if there were linksa attached to those components id almost say its a bot post ... anyway id never buy a pc that costs more than 1k Quote
robert.briscoe Posted May 15, 2012 Report Posted May 15, 2012 yeah I built a PC recently with similar (if not higher) specs minus the extremely excessive 64GB Ram (seriously, you do not need more than 16gb!), and with a 1tb drive + an OCZ 120gb ssd and it only came to around $3000 Also, dont waste your money on a quadro unless you are doing some serious CAD work. Steppenwolf Posted May 15, 2012 Report Posted May 15, 2012 Why is it so expensive? You can build a good PC that is adequate for all your 3D work stuff for about 10% of that money. Also what will help you much more with your work then all this fancy hardware would be a second monitor. Quote
Sentura Posted May 15, 2012 Report Posted May 15, 2012 ":6b67qdd1]I think if you throw a spoiler on there, I'm pretty sure that rig would do 200MPH on the highway. isn't it man's greatest dream to have a computer that would also drive and cook for you? expensive comp, but hey, at least you get 2 free gifts Quote
kleinluka Posted May 15, 2012 Report Posted May 15, 2012 Btw, OP... I just recently bought a new computer which can run pretty much any of the latest games at max settings. For less than $2000. If you want I'll post a list of what I bought. I think with the hardware you listed you're just throwing away money to be honest... Quote

Izuno Posted May 15, 2012 Report Posted May 15, 2012 Hopefully this doesn't derail the thread, but have any of you ever tried http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/ ? It's basically a "can you run it" site that checks if you can run a particular game. They said they got a huge bump in traffic with Diablo III release. Just curious if anyone here has heard of it or used it and if so, what do you think of it? Quote
neozyem Posted May 15, 2012 Report Posted May 15, 2012 one word, solid state wait that's 2 Here let me help, solid-state Quote
Jake Gilla Posted May 15, 2012 Report Posted May 15, 2012 Honestly man, a bunch of stuff on this list doesn't make any sense to me. Why would you do a RAID 1 with those drives when you have a 3TB backup drive, if you're going for speed go RAID 0. Also, buying a 3TB backup drive in USB 2.0 is kind of crazy, get at least USB 3.0 or better yet eSATA. I don't see a mouse quoted on there, and you have a cheap basic keyboard, why not cut back on the memory (really no need for more than 16GB), and get a quality keyboard and mouse. Just the things that stick out. I don't know what the heck you're doing that needs that much horsepower, but Toeachizown. Quote
