Warby Posted May 9, 2012 Report Posted May 9, 2012 i made this as a teaser for pirates of new horizons 2 at the end of the game(thats why the aspect ratio is square its being used as a texture): and i like it but there is something about the composition that irks me and i cant quite put my finger on it anybody with a fresh pair of eyes willing to do a paintover ? pease ? cincinnati Posted May 10, 2012 Report Posted May 10, 2012 my initial reaction doesn't need a paintover (i don't think :XD ):. has to do with the green-blue light coming through. i think if you staggered it some ( both in scale and up and down along those 3 main vertical lanes) rather than having it move straight through, from right to left, big to small, it might give that interior a much better sense of space. looks nice. Sentura Posted May 10, 2012 Report Posted May 10, 2012 the fact that it seems like the city doesn't continue towards the vanishing point. it makes it look as if the green part of the city is just between those two large buildings. if this is supposed to be a metropolis, then you really want to add more taller buildings, especially towards the vanishing point. another thing may be that the transition between empty space and city might be too sharp. even if you had a city like this floating on something, you'd at least make sure it really does look like its floating on something and not just standing there. other than that, the focus point is well placed and the concept seems interesting Quote
Pericolos0 Posted May 11, 2012 Report Posted May 11, 2012 this looks awesome!! I think the composition is lacking a counterbalance on the left for all the heavy detail on the right. throw a planet or something in the bottom or top left and see what happens =). Composition on a square aspect ratio is hard! Quote
