Half-Life 2 Mod: Borg Wars

I am the leader of an upcoming HL2 modification called Borg Wars. I am currently in need of some help. You can check out our website http://borgwars.hlgaming.com/

This will not be your ordinary HL2 mod. I really want to take my time in developing everything in order to provide the best game possible.

Level Mapper

Needs to have past experience with Hammer


Able to complete tasks on a deadline
Character Modeler
Needs to have past experience with 3d Studio max and comfortable with Soft Image|XSI


Past work is required

The Promentheus model was provided by Ed Giddings

Right now two Phaser models are in the work.

I currently have a 20 page + design document detailing the majority of the Single player mod. I do not want to release any of this information at this time unless you are serious about joining the dev team.

I do not have that much to offer in the area of compensation except that your work will be shown to thousands of people guaranteed. The reason I can guarantee this is because I run http://www.hlgaming.com. As I get thousands of unique visitors each day.

I will be releasing a teaser storyline with in the next month.

I understand you dont want to post your whole design doc, but you should at least post some general outline of your mod because else nobody will "seriously consider" joining your mod... unless he doesn't know what he's doing.

And it's all nice that you are making promises.

But that has been done before. Usually it is the mods that make these promises that cannot keep them and the mods that DO keep them do not make them because they don't need to.

We've had A TON of this type of threads.

General rule is, if you want people to join your team, post something that sparks their interest. So with that said, I hope that you will post some more info on the project

Excerpt from the introduction

Stars can be seen, and some distance away, a star dock is active, and there seems to be a lot of activity going on around there, obviously a starship under construction, but it is impossible to identify it's class or name, and hard to see it's size. 




A small transport shuttle passes in front of the screen, rather slowly, and at some moderate distance. The screen switches to show what is seemingly the interior of the small transport. Inside, there are two guards, as well as a science and a medical officer, a shuttle driver, an ensign, and the captain.
Chapters (Order not determined yet) Starfleet assembly facility
Your ship is on the final part of being built but the Borg find out there is another ship being built with the technology that crippled them in the Delta quadrant. Your job is to destroy the Borg scout ship


In this chapter you will also learn how to use the different weapons that you have 
U.S.S. Prometheus (NX-59650) Borg Sphere Borg Cube Federation planet
After destroying a Borg cube, parts of it crash lands on a nearby planet. It is your job to search and destroy anything that is Borg on the planet. 
Federation Dry-dock
“Orbital construction used for major maintenance and repair of starships and other space vessels.”

I like the fact that it's set on an other planet. That's pretty rare (the guy who was making this mod about the moon doesnt count) -- should be interesting to see how youre handling the art direction and what ideas you can come up with to make this planet unique and different from what we are used to seeing.

I'd want to see AT LEAST playermodels with animations in motion, ie: not screenshots/renders. Preferably models ingame. This tells me you have both modelers and animators and coders! Which is what every mod needs besides me, the averagelevel designer. Get what I'm saying though?

I am sorry but I can not provide you with player models since I have no modeler to model them. People keep saying they want to help out, show up for 3 days and then drop off the face of the planet. I wish I had more stuff to show but in order to get other modelers or people for other positions I need to show them some of the work and thus I am in a one hell of a cycle and can not get out.
