manhuntworld Posted April 19, 2012 Report Posted April 19, 2012 A palace that i've made for my master's degree dissertation showing the use of modular modelling within 3D architecture please can you give me both good and bad feedback about it. i need to balance out good feedback with bad feedback or more so constructive critique. Aim it more at the building, not at the environment itself. its the building that's the show piece. thanks guys. Quote
SamCom Posted April 19, 2012 Report Posted April 19, 2012 I know you said not to worry about the environment, but the transition between the building and the ground is very abrupt on the far left and right. Some sort of trim on the bottom, basement windows or the like, would probably help it blend. Maybe planters along the base? I'd break up those flat roofs on either side with dormers or some kind of trim. Quote
cincinnati Posted April 20, 2012 Report Posted April 20, 2012 i knew it was nymphenburg as soon as i saw it, if that counts as a positive. on the negative, while the central building looks pretty good, the wings look pretty off, just in terms of general classical proportion (not checking the source for accuracy). the pilasters are relatively heavy, and look like they're floating above the ground floor rather than resting on it (most evident at the corner of that building in the last image). i would think the ground floor would be a different material/color (show modularity through rustication, maybe?) and would be beefed out a little to help solve this. also, the entablature is either too big or too bare, and is contributing to the imbalance in the stuff below. seems like a missed opportunity to show even more modularity through ornament/texture, if you were to decide to keep it on the big side. good luck with the project. manhuntworld Posted April 20, 2012 Author Report Posted April 20, 2012 Thank you both for your feedback. I will take this all onboard and update this when i've got the results. Quote
ElectroSheep Posted April 24, 2012 Report Posted April 24, 2012 I found all the windows a bit too flat. You can easily see that most od them are just put on the wall. Quote
manhuntworld Posted April 25, 2012 Author Report Posted April 25, 2012 Yeah this is true, I will be adding to extrusion into the wall so that the windows blend in more. Quote
