Pericolos0 Posted March 30, 2012 Report Posted March 30, 2012 - All artists who love to work in darkness will probably develop severe eye problems within the next 20 years. uh i doubt that Quote
General Vivi Posted March 30, 2012 Report Posted March 30, 2012 I started the industry with pretty decent vision. One day I finally went on vacation (leaving my monitor behind) and got the surprise of my life... I can't see shit at a certain distance anymore. Quote
Thrik Posted March 30, 2012 Report Posted March 30, 2012 Yeah, my vision is much worse than it was when I started doing full-time computer work five years ago. Like, way worse — sometimes when I'm outside I literally just can't focus on things a little far away. Weirdly it's not like this all the time, and seems to be much worse after a day of working. I'm sure general ageing is related but I'm convinced focusing on tiny details on huge, bright screens in relatively darkened rooms is a big factor. Quote
Furyo Posted March 30, 2012 Report Posted March 30, 2012 "getting older" affects eyesight over decades, unless your eyes actually get "sick" and degenerate rapidly. Computers accelerate the process. Quote
Steppenwolf Posted March 31, 2012 Report Posted March 31, 2012 Eye sight getting worse due to bad light conditions has been debunked for a while. It's an urban legend parents tell their kids to stop them reading under the blanket when they were supposed to sleep. edit: Furyo what you talk about is probably CVS (Computer Vision Syndrome) which is only temporarely and doesn't damage the eye. Quote
Thrik Posted March 31, 2012 Report Posted March 31, 2012 Yeah, CVS sounds a lot like what I experience. Quote
KoKo5oVaR Posted April 1, 2012 Report Posted April 1, 2012 Still when i took the 24" screen i had at work back home, after 10 minutes of utilisation in the dark I had tears rolling down my cheeks Quote

This. Also; using your eyes more makes them better since they are just regular muscles that should be kept in shape. Quote

I bought it 60 euros at a sale at auction when they were liquidating the company, happy times Quote
KoKo5oVaR Posted April 1, 2012 Report Posted April 1, 2012 - During the liquidation of your company, don't forget to steal console dev kits before your ex bosses steal it for their next company Quote
Steppenwolf Posted April 1, 2012 Report Posted April 1, 2012 - on a clear day sunlight has a blueish tone and ambient light an orangish tone not the other way around as seen in many video games Quote
