Furyo Posted March 28, 2012 Report Posted March 28, 2012 Ok I'll bite and play the game too: - Producers will sometimes keep you in the dark and let you crunch to a milestone that's already been pushed back or cancelled because "any work done now doesn't have to be done later" - Then you get the updated milestone and realize most of your work is now cut. kleinluka Posted March 29, 2012 Report Posted March 29, 2012 - Artists hate light - Programmers love light - Designers want to light their own space. This, a million times. I've lost count how many times I've argued with programmers about turning off the lights. Quote

Obviously you need to block light on the screen, but the room itself should be bright... otherwise the harsh contrast between the glowing screen and the dark room really gives me headaches. Quote

Ginger Lord Posted March 29, 2012 Report Posted March 29, 2012 Someone took a dump on the floor of the toilets a few years back at work. Maybe it's a serial shitter going round offices for interviews? Top tips: - Dev staff who don't play the game they are working on are the most vocal on how to fix the game. - Leaving anytime before 4.59pm is considered a half day's work, expect grief from colleagues! selmitto 1 Quote

Furyo Posted March 29, 2012 Report Posted March 29, 2012 Because you're spending all day blinking less than regularly (happens to everyone when watching a screen) but compounded by the huge contrast that surrounds you. You're simply making your eyes work a lot harder than they should. Ultimately, the screen you work on should only be as bright as the room you work in (ambient light). Which is also why I will always setup my screen to "economic" so it uses less electricity and is not so bright it lights up my desk. If you need extra light on your screen to better see something, that light should come from around the screen, including a lamp rather than emitting from the screen itself, so your eyes don't get hit by all the extra light face on.
