-HP- Posted September 25, 2013 Author Report Posted September 25, 2013 In regards to this whole deal (new 'console', new OS and new pad), any company that seeks to challenge a borderline monopoly is OK in my book! I hope they succeed and kick ass with it with a vengeance. As much as I love Windows, they've been dominating for way too long and getting lazy in many things, remember ultimately it's the consumer that gains the most with inter-company competition. Taylor Posted September 25, 2013 Report Posted September 25, 2013 I would rather play a first person shooter on a mouse and keyboard, but I would also rather play a fighting game on a stick, and a platformer on a controller. Different input devices are better at different things. I would also much rather use a pad in front of a TV and this is the space Valve is trying to move into (PS3 supported a mouse and keyboard, but I don't know how many games did). I don't see how the touch pad on the PS4 is going to change anything for FPS accuracy given where it is on the pad. You're still going to be awkwardly tweaking your controllers analogue nipples next generation. Quote

Thrik Posted September 27, 2013 Report Posted September 27, 2013 So, Sony and Valve are both going to be supporting PC-like precision thanks to all this touch shit... but not Microsoft. Well done once again proving your complete lack of foresight MS, lol. -HP- and FMPONE 2 Quote

Well done once again proving your complete lack of foresight MS, lol. It also prooved they're living under a rock, they're own big rock. Biometric and touchpads on controllers is a subjects that's being discussed for a few years now, it would be the logic step. Look at the Vita the touch screen and back touch pad is amazing. Quote
Sentura Posted September 27, 2013 Report Posted September 27, 2013 I'm really looking forward to trying this controller out, it seems very well thought out. Quote

PogoP Posted September 27, 2013 Report Posted September 27, 2013 One thing I would miss with these is the fact that you dont get as much feedback with these as you do with a physical thumbstick on a controller. That's from my experience using touch screen phones and tablets. I read that it will support a variety of features, much more than just rumble? What are those features exactly? It's still not the same as physically pushing a thumbstick and getting that direct, mechanical feedback, and definitely not like using a mouse. Quote
Sentura Posted September 27, 2013 Report Posted September 27, 2013 What makes you think there's no tactile feedback? I'm actually pretty sure they made them so that the underlying layer has feedback of touch, sort of like the gate in a joystick. Quote
Algor Posted September 27, 2013 Report Posted September 27, 2013 It's interesting to see what a controller looks like when you're not held to iterating on an existing controller... Quote
