I'm sure we've all noticed the leaked art and all that crap that blogs have been posting, and then UbiSoft officially let loose the box art. Now it looks like a load of in-game shots have hit the web.

The period is obviously around the Colonial Revolution, and I've got to say I'm liking the idea of having more wilderness and non-city environments to explore — that's something that started to grind on me a bit with the AC2 games, which is a bit odd as AC1 was full of wonderful scenery and non-city environments. Not just for exploring, but also for more interesting asssassination scenarios. When I see the fifth shot I imagine a scene like in The Patriot where they ambush the soldiers in the woods. :-D

I'm a sucker for the AC games, and I think the change of period is gonna be awesome. However, instead of having that pussy wrist blade, I want a big ass tomahawk to flip out of your hand when you do stealth kills.

Looks interesting but damn ubi, give me some time to play the other games before you release another one. I beat ac2 and brotherhood, I just bought revelations a couple days ago, and I haven't even finished the first.

Really have some heavy franchise fatigue after playing every single AC game year after year, but this one does look like they're mixing things up enough that I'm actually excited about it. Heard rumours about it being in this setting plenty of times, but I actually didn't realize just how good a match it is for the series.

Assassin's Creed 3 mainly centers around the North American cities of Boston and New York in the 18th Century and features historical figures such as Benjamin Franklin, George Washington and Charles Lee, according to information gleaned from the latest issue of GameInformer.

The US magazine's reveal, summarised on NeoGAF, adds that the game's lead character is called Connor. He's half English, half Mohawk and was raised by native Americans on the US frontier.

Exact details of the game's plot were not disclosed but some of the scenarios include the great fire of New York and Washington's winter at Valley Forge.

In addition to New York and Boston, around a third of the game takes place on the frontier, an area said to be 1.5 times bigger than Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood's entire game map. There will be some kind of fast travel system to help you get around quickly.

You'll hunt animals for resources, climbing trees and cliffs to set up kills.

As time passes the seasons will change, with NPCs behaving differently depending on the weather. Soldiers will stumble about clumsily in the snow and lakes and rivers will freeze over.

A tomahawk and knife are apparently Connor's main weapons, and you'll be able to perform double counters, multiple takedowns and chained kills.

Target locking has been ditched, with the game automatically pinpointing an opponent. Ubisoft is promising a more fluid, fast-paced control system that should offer more control in combat.

The seasonal change bit sounds cool~

Kinda underwhelmed by that trailer, but I'm still really looking forward to seeing more of it, especially how it will play out in the country side part of the game~
