Okay guys, I've abandoned New Puddingtonville! It's called "Pinewood Hills" on the Mapcore region and should give you a 150 000 simoleon cash reward for claiming it (I demolished everything and left the cash). That should be enough to clean up some of my ground pollution. :XD:

EDIT: Moving into a nearby, more flat city. There simply wasn't room for oil refineries and shit on a piece of land that was basically a hill.

Thx for stopping polluting my city :)

Wtf sustaining a big city is nearly impossible without help of other cities... seriously it feels kind of broken :P 4 big water plant thingies, 2 sewage waste, 2 recycle centers (with 8 truck upgrades), 2 thrash whatever it's called (again with 8 truck upgrades). AND ITS NOT ENOUGH. My city is going under because of all this garbage, germs everywhere ground pollution slowly killing downtown. Geez guys, stop consuming shit!

Thank god I'm buying energy from Minos cos I can't sustain myself with my "green energy" supply either. Yup, you want a skyscraper city? Better collaborate with some buddies!

Oh yeah, not sure about the students you're sending to my city but I hope they don't come home all sick n shit :D

Btw guys, I'm researching the solar plant upgrade for the big works, that should help us out with clean energy.

Really enjoying my time so far. I think the key to longevity in this game is experimentation with different kinds of cities (since the map size is so limited).

The region play aspects seem pretty minor so far and I dont think they'll provide much depth in the longer term. I think Maxis were afraid of commiting too much to region play (which was perhaps a wise decision).

So far, I've got to say I've enjoyed playing an oil-specialized city. You can't just build a min-maxed grid since you gotta keep oily patches available for drilling. Producing, refining and shipping oil also provides you with some fun infrastructure puzzling. Just be sure to choose a reasonably flat piece of land; oil refineries, oil fields and trade ports all take up a lot of space.

Yeah, the space issues are worse with the hilly cities. Having some serious worker shortages, but I don't have anywhere to put houses. It turns into waiting for buildings to evolve since I can't really build anything. It's still fun, and I've poured a lot of time into it, it just feels like you hit a point where your city is "done".

Yeah, I haven't really reached that point yet but I definitely feel there is one and that it isn't that long until you reach it.

I think we might see an increase in city size sooner or later. Also, I think they should allow maps that have water or lots of hills to be slightly larger. The amount of useable land still won't be the same as completely flat maps

Hmm still trying to come to terms with the high level design choices of the game and accept the entire specialisation aspect. The idea of connecting cities and relying on coordinating your needs with other players is a neat idea, but the more I think about it the more it really feels like something that should be an alternative of playing, like co-op in most games, with the primary game being one large single player based city.

Tried playing SimCity 4 earlier today, just out of interest since it's been so long since I played it, which has plenty of things that I love and find missing in the new one. But it also feels so hopelessly outdated in it's tools, the information layers and the entire feel of the game after you've played they new one.

My point is that I love a lot of things about the new SimCity, the first couple of hours of building a city has never felt better, but the entire framing and idea of why you create your city isn't one of them, I'll pay big bucks for a XXXL City Size™ DLC pack and I'm a dinosaur that just want the same game over and over with better graphics :v

Not really sure if I'll keep playing this game for too long... Such a shame, I had really high expectations for it and had some fun during the first hours. The game at its current stage feels like a complete rip off at 60 bucks and should be priced at 20 or something, because you are going to run out of things to do fast. Social features are super forced and feel more like a distraction than something essential to the game. I imagine it would be a lot nicer if you were able to trade/make deals with friends' cities even if they were not physically connected, instead of being forced to build together in these tiny regions.

Yes the maps are tiny but what really pisses me off is that public buildings take up A LOT of space, specially when you start upgrading them. A fully developed school for example takes a up the space of a few buildings. What is also weird is that when people in your neighborhood unlock some nice upgrade in one of their buildings, you also benefit from that. That sounds nice in theory but only adds up to the confusion imo. I really wanted to invest in education in my city but I wasn't sure if it would be redundant to have two universities in the same area for example. Somebody in our server unlocked the City Hall upgrade that let's you tax people individually by their wealth and I also got that ability. What the fuck.

Individual sims simulation is also completely unnecessary and doesn't add anything to the overall experience imo. If that was the reason for the tiny maps then I must say that was the most stupid design decision ever.

Another annoying thing is that everything you build needs to snap to a street. If you don't lay out your streets perfectly in a grid you are going to end up with a lot of empty spaces in between buildings, and guess what, unlike other SimCitys you can't fill those spaces up with parks or even trees or ponds, because terraforming is non existent. And then you have to pick a specialization for your city. Of course there are only a few available and picking one forces you to build even weirder cities to maximize the available space and be more efficient overall. Wouldn't surprise me if EA starts selling new specialization packs every few months, like they do with The Sims.

To add insult to injury you can't save and load at will, completely removing any experimentation freedom you would otherwise have. No more unleashing tornados in your city before going to bed.

Anyway, I should have waited for some DLC or extended edition that's inevitably coming sooner than later. :fist::shake:
