sarge mat Posted December 21, 2011 Report Posted December 21, 2011 If you ain't into Star Wars not sure how much you would get out if it to be honest? Combat is pretty fun I think, I guess it comes down to pressing a button and wait but, feels a lot more involved than WoW. Quote
Grinwhrl Posted December 21, 2011 Report Posted December 21, 2011 Yeah, you should like Starwars if you have any interest in playing this game. Its the only reason I played WOW before was because I enjoy the warcraft world and characters. Wow gameplay was rather boring overall. I find Starwars mmo gameplay much more fun/engaging. There is no auto attack so you are always engaged or you are doing nothing. You also fight multiple enemies at one time vs 1 mob at a time. These additons build upon other mmo's out there but still feel someone more fresh than nothing at all. Quote
Zyn Posted December 21, 2011 Report Posted December 21, 2011 I've been playing SW:TOR since Friday, and even though combat isn't an autoattack snorefest, Bioware should look at abilities, cooldowns and mob health as a prio. It's pretty damn ridiculous to have very long cooldowns on emergency abilities (20 minutes?) and that some require a companion (alive) to activate them. You kinda want those abilities when your companion dies like the wet papertowel he is, as a shit-hit-the-fan button. The Fleet Pass cooldown is the craziest in the game, which teleports you to your factions capital fleet where you can find all trainers, crafts, etc ... 18 hour cooldown. Why oh why. In terms of mob health, they have 4 different enemy categories: Weak, Standard, Elite, Champion. But you never or very rarely face weak enemies alone, they are always in at least groups of 3. If you face a Standard enemy, it's either alone or got 1-2 weak enemies with it. And for being a Standard enemy, they have considerably more health and damage. Now if you have heals or a healing companion, you can take on these guys with ease, even if they are more. Heck, you can solo elites quite easily. But if you have a companion that doesn't do this, you are going to find it much harder. I just wish Bioware kicks the health down on a notch on enemies that are challenging for classes without healing companions. I play Imperial Agent Sniper, and it's suffering. They better patch the Cover mechanic breaking channels asap, it's pissing me off. Quote

Yup, I hear you are playing one of the hardest classes to play solo in the game :/ BH, Sith Warrior, and Inquister don't really suffer from this at all. They need to balance your class to fit better with the others. As far as the fleet cooldown, I dont even have that, or dont know about it. You can always just fly/or warp to a flashpoint shuttle or use class trainers around towns near by on every planet. I dont see the problem there. I agree about some of the abilities though. They should also count if ur in a group with players too. Some cooldowns are to slow, but some of mine have to be otherwise I would be way to OP. Quote
Zyn Posted December 21, 2011 Report Posted December 21, 2011 It's because the tanking companion we got aint worth shit, and many other snipers raise this issue on the forums. I am currently level 32 and I have to resurrect her after pretty much every encounter. She needs much more damage reduction and/or a heal-on-hit mechanic. Quote

My suggestion, yes it sucks, for now, roll a new class. You will only have a much better time. Quote
Zyn Posted December 21, 2011 Report Posted December 21, 2011 Yeah, I was thinking to go Bounty Hunter like I was in beta when I started playing ... but then I went sniper because pure DPS (cause I've had my share of healing and tanking throughout my MMO years). Welp, time to roll an alt! And uuuh hope we can change Legacy names at some point. I was out of ideas and just wrote "Tractorpulling" ... so now all my characters have Tractorpulling as surname. Rick_D Posted December 22, 2011 Report Posted December 22, 2011 oooooookaaay i have to complain about this somewhere so here we go. you can't buy the game on origin, out of stock. digitial distribution. out of stock. what good is origin exactly if it has worse stock than a brick and mortar shop? useless, useless shit. then you have a key, you go to redeem the code on origin, and no.. you have to sign up to the SWTOR website. launch the website, and boom, you are in a queue.. to VIEW the website. a queue. on a website. fuck off. i don't for a second believe that is neccesary. reddit has 10 million unique views a day, i don't for a second believe that some shitty mmo has 10 million people trying to view the website. this whole thing is a massive fucking fail. i don't even want to play the game, a couple friends do, so i get some codes and log on myself, but this is one of the most pathetic launches i've ever seen. and i was there for the age of conan launch. Its really odd its sold out, I hear rumors they ran out of server space Rick. The Que thing for the website when I had to put in my code sucks ass but the most useless thing is Origin. Have some patience though, there are probably 10 million people clogging up the toilet. Speaking about bad launches, I wasn't even able to get WoW when it released for almost 2 weeks because they had no server space and sold out of copies. Quote
Rick_D Posted December 22, 2011 Report Posted December 22, 2011 server space they knew this was going to be big and they don't prepare for it? idiots. same with origin, it's digital, how can you sell out? i have to go to a proper game store tonight to pick up copies for my friends because they cannot buy it over origin. that's fucking stupid. terrible planning. Yeah this is a big issue. Some of the analysis in my circle is that this has been part real and part planned. Back in the early part of the Wii cycle there was belief Nintendo constrained supply of the hardware to generate demand hysteria. If you recall in 2006 and early 2007 Wii's were going for way above retail price on Ebay. Same thing happened around the 360 and PS3 at their respective launches (which meant a PS3 would go for more than $1k on Ebay? fuuuuuuuuu!) How much of the supply constraint was real or not is to be debated, but for SWTOR, it's not exactly like they couldn't add servers quickly and cheaply. The technology for running MMO back-ends isn't exactly new. Rapid upscaling is a lot more feasible today than it was just a couple of years ago. Meanwhile, your other point about the multiple logins is dead on. I'm miffed at EA for making it that complicated. Quote
Rick_D Posted December 22, 2011 Report Posted December 22, 2011 i can 100% believe this is a fabricated supply problem. Quote

Which is a bit pessimistic, but probably accurate as well Quote
Grinwhrl Posted December 23, 2011 Report Posted December 23, 2011 Sith Corruption - Dark IV Ears look terrible Some of the blurry ass armor textures kinda suck, hope they fix those issues. However, higher level gear looks more sharp, its just hard to get. Quote
