D3ads Posted December 17, 2011 Report Posted December 17, 2011 Woah.. how did did this slip under the radar? I do hope it isn't just a PS Vita exclusive, it's bit much to buy another console when you already bought a PS3 to play the Uncharted games (among other things) Quote
-HP- Posted December 17, 2011 Report Posted December 17, 2011 It was announced at E3 in june. Not sure about this vita thing tho, I mean sure it's sleek as hell but I'm not sure if it's worth the money. I bought a PSP a few years ago, was good for a few months, then the interest faded... I see the same happening with this one. At least with my PSP I still use it to play SNES and Genesis games on it. Quote
Izuno Posted December 17, 2011 Report Posted December 17, 2011 I played it early this week up in San Francisco at a Sony event. They had just about every NA/EU launch title available for play, and of all the action/shootery games Golden Abyss generally looked the best. Graphics aren't as good as on a PS3 of course, but it still looks pretty good. It basically plays the same way as the Uncharted games on PS3 plays, except you do have to get used to the dual sticks in a different spot. With a PS3 (or 360) controller you can easily put the tips of your thumbs on the sticks without needing to bend them (unless you have crazy long fingers?). With the Vita, if you want to put your thumbtips on the sticks you have to keep those thumbs bent. And after a little while it starts to tire out your thumb knuckles. This is a bit of a nitpick (not really) but it's more about the platform than U:GA. I tried keeping my thumbs straight-ish and using the "inside of my thumb knuckle" (wtf how do I explain? :sigh: ) and it took the extreme-bent-knuckle-while-playing-an-action-game soreness away, but the game was harder to control. Same for basically anything on the Vita. the tl;dr version: the thumbsticks are cool but they definitely take getting used to coming from a regular PS3 or 360 controller mindset. Quote
Taylor Posted December 17, 2011 Report Posted December 17, 2011 I do hope it isn't just a PS Vita exclusive, it's bit much to buy another console when you already bought a PS3 to play the Uncharted games (among other things) Maybe it’ll be in the Playstation 4 Uncharted Origins collection. Quote
Skjalg Posted February 28, 2012 Report Posted February 28, 2012 I just tried it and it was awesome. I really liked the way you had to move the controller to move the sniper scope, felt really great. And I usually hate moving controllers Quote
Warby Posted February 28, 2012 Report Posted February 28, 2012 a guy from sony visited us at "the office" and let me play it a bit the cutting of the cloth and so on with the touch input felt gimmicky and unneeded but besides that its fucking uncharted and i want more fucking uncharted hmmk ! ---> therefor this: WIN ! Mazy Posted February 28, 2012 Report Posted February 28, 2012 Aye, got a Vita the other day, been playing this as well. I do kinda agree with what some people have called "Straight to DVD Uncharted", but it's still quite good, looks and sounds fantastic. Though it is a tad tiring that you have to do a coal rubbing every time you get around a corner Also quite digging the idea of using the gyro for aiming, though that's also because using the analog sticks alone on the Vita still isn't quite as slick as on a regular controller. In fact I'll be pretty disappointed if the next gen controllers don't have gyroscopic sensors in them Quote
Izuno Posted March 4, 2012 Report Posted March 4, 2012 So Sony finally sent me the Vita they promised. Yay! Uncharted is my favorite of the games they included so far. Mazy is spot on with his assessment above. I will say that without autoaim, I'm to shitty a player to bother to get good with the thumbsticks. So I turned on autoaim and yeah, it's easier, but it's more fun. The controls aren't as good as a DualShock but shit.... I PLAYED UNCHARTED WHILE I LAY IN BED. Repeat: I PLAYED UNCHARTED WHILE I LAY IN BED. And I played it while in the loo. Let's see my motherfucking iPhone play a game like Uncharted...and play it well. Touch controls can kiss my ass. Sorry...I just find it a bit of a breakthrough to have dual thumbsticks so portable. Makes me want more and better content for this thing, but alas pricing and content is going to be a big issue for Sony but that's a whole other discussion... Overall, i'm liking it but not sure I would have bought one had Sony not come through. Quote
