Rick_D Posted December 17, 2011 Report Posted December 17, 2011 http://steampowered.com/steamworks/thebigpicture.php Is this old? I just heard about it, seems awesome. Quote
Mazy Posted December 17, 2011 Report Posted December 17, 2011 Hmmm interesting, I hadn't heard about it either. I got my TV just 2 meters to the side of my PC, so it actually shouldn't be very hard to do that even now, but if they make it super accessible and easy to get in and out then it could make it much more attractive. Thrik Posted December 17, 2011 Report Posted December 17, 2011 Yes. I had a gaming HTPC for a while, and while I ultimately went back to gaming on a desktop because I couldn't get on with using wireless mice and keyboard on the sofa, I also struggled with actually using Windows 7 nicely on such a big screen because its DPI scaling and general support for screens being viewed from more than a few inches away is a bag of bollocks. Gaming needs an equivalent of Windows Media Centre. Quote
Puddy Posted December 17, 2011 Report Posted December 17, 2011 I believe this has been in the works for sometime, I remember that page from a few months back. <3 valve, always looking at ways to make their platform stronger and the consumer happier Quote
Furyo Posted December 18, 2011 Report Posted December 18, 2011 Yeah the original announcement is a year old or so by now. I talked briefly about it to a friend at Valve who said they were deliberately vague with their words as they hadn't fully fleshed out what the end product would do. Quote
Thrik Posted December 18, 2011 Report Posted December 18, 2011 Funny how when they be unintentionally vague they sound like just about every bit of Apple marketing. Quote
AlexM Posted December 18, 2011 Report Posted December 18, 2011 Nice. I've been doing that a lot lately with the HDMI out on my laptop. It's great for games like monkey island or super meat boy (with a xbox controller). Not so great for anything that needs a mouse/kb. Quote
