corruption at every level. old men, running the world.

by the way, 4chan's /v/ took part in politics the only way they know how, by drawing pornography of the only women in the house and sending it to them on twitter:

Damn.

Update.... Or not. Despite the fact that Congress was supposed to be out of session until the end of January, the Judiciary Committee has just announced plans to come back to continue the markup this coming Wednesday. This is rather unusual and totally unnecessary. But it shows just how desperate Hollywood is to pass this bill as quickly as possible, before the momentum of opposition builds up even further.

The list of SOPA supporters was released, see it here: http://judiciary.house.gov/issues/Rouge%20Websites/SOPA%20Supporters.pdf

GoDaddy is one of the supporters, so as a form of protest everyone opposing the bill is going to transfer their domains to other providers on Dec 29, and many of GoDaddys competitors are offering special discounts for those who which to transfer.

So if you're a GoDaddy client protest the bill and save money by transferring your domain to another provider. Also be sure to contact GoDaddy and tell them why you're transferring.

More info, and discount codes here:

Also why the fuck is L'Oreal supporting the bill?!

EDIT: GoDaddy no longer supports SOPA http://www.godaddy.com/newscenter/release-view.aspx?news_item_id=378&isc=smtwsup

  • 4 weeks later...

The White House issued a statement at the weekend saying that "we will not support legislation that reduces freedom of expression, increases cybersecurity risk, or undermines the dynamic, innovative global internet".

I think this pretty much sums it up. This is never going to go into effect.

Yeah, because the white house not supporting it means its not gonna happen. (heavy sarcasm :P)

Had the statement been something more like "The White House will always oppose...", then maybe we'd be a little safer, but as far as that statements goes its very passive and "political".
