Quick question, I have a gtx 980 4gb, im on high settings, 1080p, I get a solid 80~ fps but I get random stutters and fps spikes? Could that be some setting I have on thats fucking it up or the drivers? Ive heard different things so im curious.

I had stutters like that in The Sims 4 (lol) and it turned out to be the network connectivity. Try disabling it within the game and/or your OS to see if it helps.

I'd be surprised if it did, but it's just yet another of endless stupid fucking PC gaming issues I've experienced over the years, so it's now on my list of things to try when certain symptoms occur.

God it's refreshing to just put one 60GB disc into a console and play.

I have the same graphics card as you. I have everything maxed out as far as it goes except for three settings and get 100+ frames in the Los Santos city area and around 80 up in the hills with the big vistas and such. I never experienced stuttering like you describe but I did get bad frame drops in the desert area. The three "frame killer" settings that I realized were causing problems are shadows, grass and "extended draw distance" (under advanced settings) or w/e it's called. I left shadows on "High" (along with "softest") and grass on "Very High" and the slider on the extended draw distance at the very lowest. For some reason when I change even just one of those settings up just one notch (distance and shadows especially) my fps gets halved. Also using MSAA instead of FXAA will eat up frames especially at anything above 2X but that's more or less the same in every game that uses MSAA lately. I think my Vram is @ like 2900/4095. The game looks really good but I wish there was a better option for shadows that wasn't so costly, maybe it will get addressed in a driver update. Hope this helps.

Do you have the 60Hz bug? I had some stutters when my monitor was set to 60 but only had 50 and 59 to choose from in the graphics settings. Setting the monitor to 59 fixed that for me. Same card as you btw.
