madgernader Posted October 19, 2011 Report Posted October 19, 2011 Well the trick is, if they don't reach the 10 million, then those pre orders don't get the game for $1 they get 1$ off of a $30-40 price tag XD Quote
-HP- Posted October 19, 2011 Report Posted October 19, 2011 If you say 1 million... then maybe, and even than I'm skeptical man, wtf are they thinking. Quote
Jenn0_Bing Posted October 19, 2011 Report Posted October 19, 2011 They're thinking they'll make more money selling the game at full price, and that the 10mill marketing move is getting people talking about the game just like this thread. Quote
Buddy Posted October 19, 2011 Report Posted October 19, 2011 They're thinking they'll make more money selling the game at full price, and that the 10mill marketing move is getting people talking about the game just like this thread. We're not talking about the game here. Quote
Jenn0_Bing Posted October 19, 2011 Report Posted October 19, 2011 sure you are, the game and it's marketing are symbiotic. You couldn't mention the marketing stunt if the game it's attached to didn't exist, what's the point of marketing nothing. This marketing stunt has appeared in a number of places, and every one of those places cant help but draw attention to the game itself. I can't imagine they'd ever expect to make 10million sales (hence the Charity donation), and neither can any other place that is jumping on the story to also say "they aren't going to do it." The by-product of all this attention to their 1$ sale is they now have more places with the games title and trailer spread around the internet than they could have ever afforded to do with standard advertising. I'm pretty sure they won't make 10million 1$ sales, but they will make more standard sales than they may have otherwise. EDIT: Also to clarify, when i say "talking about the game" I'm not talking about gameplay, design etc. But purely as a product for sale. Quote
Warby Posted October 19, 2011 Report Posted October 19, 2011 game looks solid id probably play that and easily buy it for 1 dollar ! but why are they reaching so far out if they said 100.000 that probbaly would get that in a month and than they would have a second massive wave of pr after declaring the success of this initiative ! FrieChamp Posted October 19, 2011 Report Posted October 19, 2011 As Jenn0 said, that 10 mil pre-orders number has been intentionally chosen to generate buzz and it somewhat works, but why not go all the way and pick a realistic barrier? I guess they think they can make more money through pre-orders with the regular price tag generated through the media buzz. Not sure if I can agree with that. Now someone else is probably going to fix that and sell their game under such a promotion. Not mentioning the charity they intend to donate to seems to hurt them, too. With Christmas coming up soon Child's Play would have been the obvious option. Quote
Skjalg Posted October 19, 2011 Report Posted October 19, 2011 Polish scam. You're gonna pay 1$ and not get anything in return except a discount on game you weren't interested in to begin with, but maybe you are now since you've invested 1$ and you gotta protect that investment by shelling out the rest of the price for it, right? In my book thats a scam Quote

Skjalg Posted October 19, 2011 Report Posted October 19, 2011 Yeah i guess you are kind of interested, but not necessarily interested enough to shell out the full price. And saying that you are stupid if you fall for their trick is not really a good argument against it being a scam in the first place Quote
knj Posted October 19, 2011 Author Report Posted October 19, 2011 And saying that you are stupid if you fall for their trick is not really a good argument against it being a scam in the first place haha yeah you are right, but you get the point Quote
Serenius Posted October 19, 2011 Report Posted October 19, 2011 If you shoot for the stars and hit the moon, it's OK. But you've got to shoot for something. A lot of people don't even shoot. Quote
Sprony Posted October 30, 2011 Report Posted October 30, 2011 I've been following this game for a long time. Always forget about it and then something triggered my memory and I looked it up again. It's good to read they switched from Unity to Unreal. The screens look much better now. Doesn't matter to me how this turns out, I'm going to buy it. Quote
Sprony Posted November 15, 2011 Report Posted November 15, 2011 The demo is out. You can grab it here. Mirrors. Quote
