DD Posted January 16, 2004 Report Posted January 16, 2004 Less talk, more textures! (I just realized I'm contributing to the stupidity) Quote
IR Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 still working on the cracks :/~~ not sure how this would fit in a map but i had fun anyway :> *more variations as mike sugested* Quote
mikezilla Posted January 19, 2004 Author Report Posted January 19, 2004 you did like 12 cool variants on one texture. break that up into like 5 textures and your sold. Quote
Guest The_Postman Posted January 26, 2004 Report Posted January 26, 2004 fuzzy fuzzy fuzzy. IR, sharpen up your crumbled edges and try not to make them look so smooth. As it is your texture base is solid but I can see on the upper left window the crumbled away plaster is gonna tile like a motherfucker. However, my main point is that the textures have a loose fuzzy feel when it comes to the hand drawn bits (photo sourcing is fine, but you have to draw them in nicely) try looking towards using a layer set to overlay (vary the opacity to your tastes) and using only black and white pencil (set to 1 pixel width at 20% strength) to get a chipped and cracked feel. This is Half-Life 1 you're dealing with, smoothing and fuzzing of your textures is gonna happen in-engine anyhow, so sharpness is a bonus in this case Hope that helps! Quote
spine Posted January 26, 2004 Report Posted January 26, 2004 Hey, very nice textures! Love the colour and patina, it really looks old. But I agree on The_Postmans coments, and if you are looking for realism, it needs to loose some of that soft feel. The cracks need to be much more sharp on the edges and irregular, the stucco or cement looks to thick. I think they allso have to much highlight on the edges. And maybe this is me beeing a bit picky, but the things that hold the drain pipe in place look a bit toy'ish, (never seen a thing like that in the real world). This is my opinion, we all have different ideas on what looks best though... But again this is really 1first class! Quote
kleinluka Posted January 27, 2004 Report Posted January 27, 2004 who said these were meant to be used in HL1 ? i agree with the other points postman made. Quote
Guest The_Postman Posted January 27, 2004 Report Posted January 27, 2004 Yeah dood, they're gonna be used in HL2... *rolls eyes* heh. Quote
DD Posted January 28, 2004 Report Posted January 28, 2004 they can be used in HL1 mods. Like flfd, I'm using the havana textures (at default size and color, and looks the same in game) for map I'm working on. Quote
Absolut Vodka Posted March 23, 2004 Report Posted March 23, 2004 made these yesterday... and since they fit the whole havana theme, I thought I might as well post them... shoutout to klein for his advice... mmm we need a new texture challange... Quote
st0lve Posted March 23, 2004 Report Posted March 23, 2004 /me rapes a photo *splash* Um, a little ugly one, did it in about 10mins (inc. searching for a good picture) Quote
spine Posted March 23, 2004 Report Posted March 23, 2004 The thread that never dies! He he! Nice work Vodka! Allthough a little dark for Havana I think... And stolve, think that's an amazing step forward (compaired to your future metal things). But you are repeating the wall patterns a bit much, use some more time on them and it will be perfect...
