WD Posted September 17, 2011 Report Posted September 17, 2011 I didn't notice a thread about this game yet, anyone tried it? I've been beating the hell out of it for a couple of days. While it's not the most polished game out there, it's probably the best WWII fps I've played. Not bad from indie devs! Quote
Puddy Posted September 17, 2011 Report Posted September 17, 2011 Actually, I wouldn't mind a new, solid WW2-shooter. Unfortunately RO2 is a tad too "realistic" for my taste. Clunky movement and shooting, no thanks. Quote
Sentura Posted September 17, 2011 Report Posted September 17, 2011 there are probably a lot of solid WWII shooters out there already, not sure why anyone would want yet another one. WWII has been run into the ground, resurrected, run into the ground again before getting reanimated into something unholy and run into the goddamn ground again. Quote
Puddy Posted September 17, 2011 Report Posted September 17, 2011 Because it's nice with something new and shiny? Also, there aren't THAT many excellent WW2 shooters. CoD2 <3 Quote
dux Posted September 17, 2011 Report Posted September 17, 2011 Red Orchestra is pretty much the only super realistic ww2 multiplayer game. People love their realism ya'know. Quote
FrieChamp Posted September 17, 2011 Report Posted September 17, 2011 Have you played the first Red Orchestra, Sentura? It did quite a few things differently than other WW II games out there. Big open maps, no crosshairs, bleeding, you had to identify friends/foes by their uniforms, ... - that stuff made the game much more interesting and immersive to many players including myself. Not to mention that Red Orchestra is all about the Eastern campaign of WW II. There is a defnitely a market for more realistic WW II shooters and Red Orchestra fills it quite nicely. I haven't followed the sequel much to be honest, but "first person cover-, morale- and squad-command-system" sounds promising to me. This might not sound all that convincing to you, but what I'm trying to say is: this isn't your standard shovelware-WW2-copycat-shooter. Quote
Sentura Posted September 17, 2011 Report Posted September 17, 2011 i've not played RO, ever, and i don't intend to. WWII bores the crap out of me. old rifles instead of modern tech? SNORE. i might come off as ignorant and brash in this, and i don't really intend to. i don't doubt it's decent for what it is, i'm just tired of still seeing new WWII games pop up. can't we have a new war that the US will actually win so people can stop masturbating all over the last proper victory? who knew that the setting could mean so much? Red orchestra doesn't have yanks in it, it's the eastern front. Sure it is still WWII but at least no americans, right? Quote
FrieChamp Posted September 17, 2011 Report Posted September 17, 2011 I don't know where you get the idea from that what we need is more modern war shooters but everyone is entitled to have their own favourite war-simulator setting. :derp: Quote
D3ads Posted September 17, 2011 Report Posted September 17, 2011 I saw some screenshots of this and... wait for it... Most authentic looking Russian village ever! I love those houses Quote
