Mazy Posted August 25, 2011 Report Posted August 25, 2011 It is indeed a mixture of sadness and happiness for me. He's a fucking ironman, battling cancer and still keeping and active role in basically making Apple one of the biggest and most successful companies on the planet. Say what you want but he's changed so much in our industry, and has without a doubt made the most insane company turnaround in history. Really sad to see him go, but on the other hand then I can't think of anyone deserving a rest more. Hope he'll be able to live for many years more. /me raises cup of coffee to Steve~ Quote
sarge mat Posted August 25, 2011 Report Posted August 25, 2011 I think this had been expected for a wile but not quite as soon as this. I always enjoyed watching time talk and as he is still Chairman I hope he will still do keynotes from time to time. One of his greatest moments Quote
Warby Posted August 25, 2011 Report Posted August 25, 2011 i am not an apple product fan but i have a huge admiration for the man so ... hats of to you mister jobs ! Quote
Thrik Posted August 25, 2011 Report Posted August 25, 2011 While his main company has done some retarded things I can't have anything but absolute respect for Jobs and everything he's accomplished — not just with Apple but also with Pixar. He's always been a great speaker, been spot on with what the world wants and needs, and put quality above all else when so many other companies cut corners wherever they can. He has great principles and I've enjoyed many things that came as a result of his vision. Hope he doesn't die a horrible cancerous death. Quote
Serenius Posted August 25, 2011 Report Posted August 25, 2011 Thanks for the gadgets, Steve. Hope that black market liver is working out for you. Quote

-HP- Posted August 25, 2011 Author Report Posted August 25, 2011 Maybe this will also mean a new direction for Apple. (Apple console I'm looking at you) Quote

Apple IS Steve Jobs. Doesn't compute He's just the public face of Apple. While they will likely have to find a new way to market the company to the masses outside of the Cult of Jobs, all of the hardworking designers, engineers, and programmers who actually make Apple what it is will (most likely) still be there. Plus he'll still be chairman of the board and overseeing all major decisions and overall direction, just less of the day-to-day high level management stuff. Quote

Izuno Posted August 26, 2011 Report Posted August 26, 2011 Yeah I wouldn't count Apple out just yet, though I don't think anyone really is. It still has more iterations of the iPhone, iPad etc. in the pipeline. I think it's a question of where it goes in a couple years from now. Meanwhile, I'm still a PC guy at heart (I work of two different MacBook Pros running Windows in Bootcamp ) ...and honestly I don't like OSX, but I have so much Apple gear between my wife and I that I can say Apple has had a huge impact on my life. Lot's of respect for Jobs and I hope he does not suffer badly from cancer. Quote
