Puddy Posted August 21, 2011 Report Posted August 21, 2011 Hey MapCore, So I'm finally getting some vacation time the next two weeks. I thought it would be a good time to finally get down and dirty with modelling since my previous attempts have been smothered by overtime at work (there's been a LOT of that lately). I was planning on focusing on Maya as it appears to be somewhat of an industry standard. Now, I'm humbly requesting tips on good tutorials/walkthroughs/traning-vids for a person who's starting from scratch! I'm very much aware that tutorials pretty much come in unlimited quantities, and that's part of the reason I'm asking; I'm wondering if there are any hidden gems in this, well, jungle! What does MapCore say? Quote
Minos Posted August 21, 2011 Report Posted August 21, 2011 I'm learning it too. This DVD is pretty comprehensive, the author goes over all of the modeling tools before starting to explain his modeling process: http://www.thegnomonworkshop.com/store/product/955/ It doesn't cover UV and texture baking though. Pampers Posted August 21, 2011 Report Posted August 21, 2011 This is a neat lookup: http://caad.arch.ethz.ch/info/maya/manu ... index.html Quote
Puddy Posted August 22, 2011 Author Report Posted August 22, 2011 Thanks, this is exactly the kind of stuff I'm looking for Going to Spain for a few days today, so won't be able to respond... but be sure that suggestions are greatly appreciated! Quote

Warby Posted August 29, 2011 Report Posted August 29, 2011 i thought max was kind of the industry standard ... it always seemed to me that everyone was using max except some select elite studios like naughty dog sony santa monica and blizzard. Quote
