Minos Posted August 18, 2012 Report Posted August 18, 2012 Yeah weapons are pretty bad... the best ones look at best at the same level as Fallout New Vegas weapons I actually quite liked the environment art though. Surely it's not mind blowing but I'm glad they finally improved vrad. I tried to achieve the same de_dust off-white look while on Insurgency 2 but found it almost impossible with the portal 2 engine. Was this game made entirely by valve by the way? Cause it doesn't have usual polish from valve games.. really hoping the final release is more polished than this beta version. :ssj: Quote

Valve is just acting as hypemachine/publisher here. HPE also did gun-animations for L4D2, which in both games are poor (though they are little bit better now in CSGO). Indeed CSGO could use that Valve-polish, because some maps have still odd corners you get stuck (cs_office's CT spawn's rightside smaller storage room's windowframe, de_nuke's window holes are still blocked) and overall some spots look bit rushed IMO. Puddy Posted August 18, 2012 Report Posted August 18, 2012 In short; I'll be skipping this one. *though I will grab it for the SDK Quote
penE Posted August 18, 2012 Report Posted August 18, 2012 Mh, nice, they just uploaded a new trailer for CS:GO: Quote
Thrik Posted August 18, 2012 Report Posted August 18, 2012 Awesome, made using Source Filmmaker too. So presumably all the assets are fully usable. Quote
LiVinGHeLL Posted August 18, 2012 Report Posted August 18, 2012 Looking at the lowpoly and res models, I was wondering if they are really aiming at the low end pc market. Maybe they want to pull all those players still playing 1.6 and source. OS: Windows® 7/Vista/XP Processor: Intel® Core™ 2 Duo E6600 or AMD Phenom™ X3 8750 processor or better Memory: 1GB XP / 2GB Vista Hard Disk Space: At least 7.6GB of Space Video Card: Video card must be 256 MB or more and should be a DirectX 9-compatible with support for Pixel Shader 3.0 Quote
selmitto Posted August 18, 2012 Report Posted August 18, 2012 So... didn't Valve develop (at least the majority of) its own game? I'm curious to know why. Wouldn't be too risky to lend one of their most important franchises to another devs and end up with a game that doesn't match completely their "seal of approval"/ general quality? Quote
marks Posted August 18, 2012 Report Posted August 18, 2012 Most important? Pretty sure Valve haven't put much effort into building CS as a core franchise for .... well, since they bought it. Quote
AlexM Posted August 18, 2012 Report Posted August 18, 2012 maybe it's because I havent really played since beta7 but I'm really liking this game. I certainly prefer it to CS:Source. Quote
Mr. Happy Posted August 19, 2012 Report Posted August 19, 2012 Having played all of 15 minutes of Counter-Strike in my life I'm looking forward to giving this a fair shot. I assume I will ragequit at the lack of respawning, but I will go in with a positive attitude and am open to watching! Quote
Pericolos0 Posted August 19, 2012 Report Posted August 19, 2012 I really like the polished look of it, great lighting and details everywhere. It does definitely feel old-school though, probably because of the lack of normal maps everywhere. Not sure about how the weapons feel yet, they feel a lot different that in css I think, and I'm not sure yet if it's worse or if I just need to get used to them . Quote
Chimeray Posted August 19, 2012 Report Posted August 19, 2012 Just bought it. And... I'm surfing Quote
cityy Posted August 19, 2012 Report Posted August 19, 2012 Hell, I suck at this game. We should have a mapcore playing group. Quote
-HP- Posted August 19, 2012 Report Posted August 19, 2012 Lets create one on steam! Can someone do it plz? (or I can do it tomorrow at work) Quote
ShockaPop Posted August 19, 2012 Report Posted August 19, 2012 How about someone from Mapcore group just announces a CSGO game when it's happening, rather than make a new group for it? Quote
