Sprony Posted February 20, 2016 Report Posted February 20, 2016 I have a very strong opinion about what transpired here these last 6 pages. But guess what, we're in the Gaming Discussion forum and we should be talking about Counterstrike: Global Offensive. Something that has barely happened these last pages. So even though valid and well liked comments were made, I've decided to clean house and hide all the messages regarding this issue. Let's get back to talking about the game, the latest operation and the fact that our talented community is completely dominating the CS:GO custom content scene.I really despise having to do these things. It feels like censorship and that's something I strongly oppose. I think that intelligent people can have a proper discussion about these matters. If we would be more sensible we should always be able to understand each other's views and find some common ground. That clearly wasn't happening because Kemal came here for all the wrong reasons. Provoking people could be dealt with by handing out a warning. However, insulting mothers, families, homosexuals, spreading xenophobia and forcing one's views is unacceptable and therefor Kermal is banned. So the discussion ends with this post and let's get back to the topic at hand. Does anyone have knowledge about what Valve is trying to accomplish with Nuke? by the way congrats to everyone ! Quote
Vaya Posted February 20, 2016 Report Posted February 20, 2016 I wouldn't say 'futuristic' but I'll be trying to emulate the use of colour and lighting. Trying being the operative word laminutederire 1 Quote
laminutederire Posted February 20, 2016 Report Posted February 20, 2016 I see ! I guess that it is because the source engine is reaching its limits with realism Vaya 1 Quote
RivFader Posted February 20, 2016 Report Posted February 20, 2016 I just finished the first Coop Strike mission with a friend and I must congratulate Valve: I never knew I wanted a singleplayer or coop campaign in CS this much until now. This has huge potential and I would gladly pay 5-10€ for a DLC that enables a coop mode with a few maps for me and my friends to play. CS gameplay mechanics are great and seeing them utilized in such a scenario made me feel overjoyed. This, along with Crashsite and the Weapon Course could even serve as some sort of normal ingame campaign in the base game if Valve so desired.I also think like this map in particular can be turned into a map that can be regulary accessed in parts in various other modes. Logic Posted February 21, 2016 Report Posted February 21, 2016 (edited) Looks like the new maps did a good job with the clipping. Royal could need some more work though :) Edited February 21, 2016 by Logic Vorontsov and rosk 2 Quote

Puddy Posted February 21, 2016 Report Posted February 21, 2016 Just got home from vacation in Greece and I find like a 6 page flame war in the CS:GO thread lol.On the bright side, there's a new operation. Congrats to all! Looking forward to trying all the maps in Comp MM (along with the new Nuke, sweet!). jackophant, Lizard, Vaya and 2 others 5 Quote
Vorontsov Posted February 21, 2016 Report Posted February 21, 2016 Seeing the comments on reddit really makes me sad, compiled the "best ones". These people really don't appreciate the amount of time of your life that you have to sink into creating a map from start to finish, for them they just fall out of the sky and a year or two's worth of work can be dismissed as "lel worst map ever amirite xd". I know not every layout in the operation maps is "perfectly competitively viable" and even I experienced a bit of frustration as a first impression when playing on a few maps, but c'mon..Cognrats to everyone who got into the operation and keep it up Radu, Fnugz, Lizard and 6 others 9 Quote
Rick_D Posted February 21, 2016 Report Posted February 21, 2016 Casual play along with deathmatch is a much larger portion of the game than people who post on reddit want to believe. People buy the passes to have fun completing missions, playing casual, and having fun. What you are reading on places like reddit is a vocal minority of players who represent a small fraction of the playerbase. You also find comments that directly contradict each other such as "a map should be completely readable" but at the same time "could be prettied up".If it were up to players every map would be fy_iceworld and arms race wallhack would be on everyone except themselves. Levels also play vastly differently in casual and competitive; levels play vastly differently at different skill groups as well. What one player finds intuitive another will find confusing, what one player deems "too much clutter" another player will think it doesn't look pretty enough. All you can really do is try different things and keep it as balanced as you can and hope it plays out alright.Look at overpass and cobble, two maps that have received massive changes that only came after they were played by thousands (millions?) of people and professional teams at competitions where thousands of money were at stake. We play test maps with a much smaller pool of players and do our best.I don't think anyone should get hung up on the words, but rather try and look for feedback within the posts - if any can be found at all - and apply it to either patching the level or towards the next map! Jack_is_my_name Posted February 21, 2016 Report Posted February 21, 2016 I really feel like Valve could do so much more to welcome community maps, such as running a few official servers (accessible through the server browser most probably though), dm and the like, with the top current 5 favourite de_ or cs_ maps in the workshop that week, I feel that could be an interesting idea and surely wouldn't be too hard to implement - any thoughts?
