Mazy Posted August 5, 2011 Report Posted August 5, 2011 Like I've said before, love that he has this kind forum to just blabber on about what he wants, and that he isn't having his arm twisted by some PR drone when he goes on about the shortcomings of the console versions of Rage. Quote
Froyok Posted August 5, 2011 Report Posted August 5, 2011 I have never played on the last consoles, so it's interesting to hear exactly how they solved all their performances problems with the consoles. I was not expecting programming discussion at all, but it's very instructive ! Quote
Erratic Posted August 6, 2011 Report Posted August 6, 2011 fuckin losers on their shitty phones. Quote
Skjalg Posted August 6, 2011 Report Posted August 6, 2011 Im halfway through the talk and I find this super interesting. I like how he is basically skirting around the idea that we should maybe select the graphic settings we want to use before we start downloading the game, because if we want to run high texture resolution, the game will be twice as big. Whereas on my craptop, which doesn't have the hard drive space, speed or ram to handle the amounts of texture, I could get away with downloading a game that was half the size and therefor more optimized for my low-end hardware. Warby Posted August 6, 2011 Report Posted August 6, 2011 i cant help but feel that between the lines carmeck wants to tell us mega textures were a horrible idea they are a complete clusterfuck workflow and data wise and no game artist is gonna get used to this method so recruiting people to work with this is pretty much impossible ! so it wont have a future ! /edit super interesting and entertaining all around though !
