Corwin Posted June 24, 2011 Report Posted June 24, 2011 http://www.indiegamethemovie.com/ Sounds interesting, if only for the fact that it may bring a bit of awareness and respect about/for the medium (although it'll probably not touch that much of a large audience.) (Trailer's a bit gay though me thinks) Quote
selmitto Posted June 13, 2012 Report Posted June 13, 2012 I just watched it! What a BEAUTIFUL movie! I mean it! Reasons: * Fuck! * It's amazing * fabulous * perfect (!) * really well edited * well informative * inspiring * it shows all that pressure, love and passion from some indie game devs: ~> Edmund McMillen and Tommy Refenes (Team Meat), from Super Meat Boy. ~> Phil Fish, from Fez. ~> Jonathan Blow, from Braid. There are extras with interviews of the Canabalt creator, Adam Saltsman, as also of the Aquaria creator, Alec Holowka. I can't believe that I missed the chance to back it. Make yourself a favor, and watch it. http://store.steampowered.com/app/207080/ Quote
insta Posted June 13, 2012 Report Posted June 13, 2012 I hope they release a edited-down version with only the Team Meat stuff. Although I guess I can just use the fast-forward button during the other parts. Quote
Youme Posted June 13, 2012 Report Posted June 13, 2012 Should be called "Indie Game: It'll ruin your fucking life, then maybe, just maybe, make you a millionaire" Quote

Why is that? ;P Should be called "Indie Game: It'll ruin your fucking life, then maybe, just maybe, make you a millionaire" Yeah. That's insane! Quote
Mclogenog Posted June 14, 2012 Report Posted June 14, 2012 I'd heard a few criticisms about the narrow scope of the movie, but was still pleased with it. A large part of the indie scene is more casual / hobbyist, and the film doesn't cover that, though I think the bonus features do. Make sure to check out the Team Meat commentary too! It's ridiculous. Marvin.Star Posted June 15, 2012 Report Posted June 15, 2012 Oh, I saw this when they did that in theaters live broadcast. I really liked the movie, but yea it ends up feeling a little narrow in scope especially when you know (or at least I did) that all of the games featured are rather large successes as far as indie games go. Otherwise it was mostly a fun kind of 'people watching' movie, I enjoyed getting to know the developers a little bit and hear what they had to say about things as they went along. Will probably buy a copy to keep around some time. Quote
Taylor Posted June 15, 2012 Report Posted June 15, 2012 Do Phil Fish and Team Meat have a punch up to determine who is the greatest person in the universe? Quote
KoKo5oVaR Posted June 15, 2012 Report Posted June 15, 2012 Is it some serious stuff; or is it a self promotional video to get in the light ? Quote
marks Posted June 15, 2012 Report Posted June 15, 2012 No its pretty serious, I'd recommend it. Quote
Youme Posted June 15, 2012 Report Posted June 15, 2012 None of the devs featured in the main film need any exposition, it's a pretty decent insight into their mental state leading up to release rather than how the games are actually made. It's pretty good though it will probably scare a lot of people away from indie development (and encourage a few crazy folk with the right attitudes) Quote
Warby Posted June 15, 2012 Report Posted June 15, 2012 just bought it on steam and yeah its really inspiring/and depressing as hell ... was this the first time a movie got sold on steam ? i never bought one before today its kinda wiered: i really like fez but i dont really like this phil fish guy and: i dont really like super meat boy but love team meat ^^ Quote
selmitto Posted June 16, 2012 Report Posted June 16, 2012 Yeah hahaha.. that black fellah should review every game I just noticed that there's an audio of Team Meat commenting the movie as it is played. I'll have to watch it again. yay! btw, take a look at this article in Destructoid talking about the weird Fez guy and his "devil" ex-partner: http://www.destructoid.com/indie-game-t ... 9538.phtml Indeed in the movie we see a one sized story. Marvin.Star Posted June 16, 2012 Report Posted June 16, 2012 Yea, like the others said it is some very serious stuff, I imagine it would be borderline depressing if the prospect of what they're doing doesn't inspire you at all. I really would recommend it though, it's real cheap on steam, or if you buy the full deal from their site you can get tons of extra footage which is neat. Quote
Minos Posted June 17, 2012 Report Posted June 17, 2012 the inde devloers teh saviors of the industrey making cool games nobody cares lomao Quote
