Time for a bit of self promotion, the new game i've been working on for the last couple of years hit stores on Tuesday, it's getting great reviews all round (including a 9 on Eurogamer and Edge magazine!), so if racing games are your bag, please check it out (and if they're not, give it a go anyway )

I loved the first two, was hoping to hold off on this one for a bit though (I've bought way too many games recently)... then I watched the Giant Bomb first look last night and ordered it about 2 minutes into the video. It'll be here tomorrow. Can't wait

Got it Monday and I've been playing it quite a bit, love it. Reason I haven't made a thread about it is that I usually get the impression that I'm the only person here who plays racing games, but I guess that's not entirely true . Also, Dirt 2 is probably on my Top 5 of best games of this console generation.

Reason why I could only play dirt2 for 30 minutes was the other drivers talking to you "real time" during the races. "Ouch, watch were you going", "hey don't hit me". rotfl

Not a big fan of racing games myself, but i might get this for my ps3, looking awesome.

Also, when will codemasters make another Micro Machines?

Been playing this a bit... is it just me or is everything non-rally incredibly boring?

I'm a big fan of the visuals, the driving feel and that they cut out all the BS-talk (yay!).

I find that rallys are a bit on the short side though. When my co-driver says "... into finish" I'm just getting started, dammit!

Yeah, but it's always been like that for me, in this one there's a bit more focus on rally races at least.

I am actually warming up a tad for the Gymkhana stuff, but for most part I want point-to-point rally races when I play these games.

not going fucking near this until codemasters stop using GFWL.

i cant play dirt 2 at all because of that shit and i wont throw my money away again.

a real pity because the games are very good, truly world class but fuck GFWL.

maybe i'll mail codemasters 40 quid and then pirate it.

Yup, I hate GFWL too but in this game it was surprisingly non-intrusive... except for one issue.

Early on, I had a problem where the game stuttered every 2 minutes. Apparently that is precisely the interval at which GFWL connects to the main server to do... some shit or something.

When playing without GFWL I did not experience the problem (but you can't save and you have to recreate your profile everytime you want to play...). Someone recorded the issue here.

I have no idea what happened but this issue just disappeared after a few days.

The rally's get longer as you get into the later seasons and world tours, there's none longer than about 3 minutes though, it was decided a while ago that 3 minute stages are about right in terms of length for the average player who doesn't want to sit through 10 minute races
