Mazy Posted May 5, 2011 Report Posted May 5, 2011 http://www.slashfilm.com/footage-nicola ... fns-drive/ Quite looking forward to this one. Not really that much is shown in the footage though it's pretty damn suspenseful, but the premise (Stuntdriver that's a heist getaway driver by night) sound like it could be good fun. I'm also totally digging the Michael Mann'ish digital video vibe it has to it. Quote

Mazy Posted September 17, 2011 Author Report Posted September 17, 2011 Just saw it, and I pretty much loved it. A great example that it's all about building characters, and once you do that then the smallest thing can feel big because you're there with them. It is so refreshing to watch a movie that doesn't linger in unimportant details but feels perfectly focused through the entire movie, and doesn't feel cut short as a result. Can't remember the last time a movie went by this fast, you're seriously hooked from start to end. Also one of the best casts I've seen in a long time, and an awesome synthy soundtrack I really wish I hadn't seen any of the trailers tho, since I couldn't help linking scenes together in my mind and trying to piece together the ending while watching it, but even then it was great. Steppenwolf Posted September 25, 2011 Report Posted September 25, 2011 Saw it today. Pretty good. One of the best neo noirs that i've seen. I'm really surprised by the mainstream attention this film gets. It's far more arthouse then typical Hollywood fare with its slow moving, dream-like plot, ambient/indie pop soundtrack and beautiful cinematography. edit: avoid the trailer if you can. it reveals too much and gives a wrong impression about what to expect Quote
Froyok Posted September 25, 2011 Report Posted September 25, 2011 Hoo, did'nt see there was already a topic on this movie. As I said : I have watched Drive this night. Best. Movie. Ever. My friend and me were totally destroyed and breathless when we go out of the cinema. It's incredible. I have loved the atmosphere, the ambient sound (and his absence), the characters and especially how we follow the main character. The balance between slow moment and the violent actions are perfect. The violence is not here for free, it's impressive and scary. Everything is justified, and we look the movie like we were hypnotized ! I love this style of narrative design, which is explain more by the silences and framing than by dialogs between the characters. We take the time to discover the main character, and after we see his other side, the bad side. It's not like if we continue to discover him, we discover a real new soul. As if he was schizophrenic. My friend and me were very surprised when he hurts the girl during the armed robbery, we didn't expect that at all. For me it's a perfect film (technically, dramatically and so on), but I'm sure that not everybody will agree with me. And yes, avoid the trailers. Quote
