AlexM Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 Hey guys the GDC vault put some new videos up featuring classic post mortems. The ones that interest me in particular are the Doom and Out of This World post mortems. http://www.gdcvault.com/free/gdc-11 Quote
Mazy Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 Aye its awesome, been watching the Another World one, Chahi for prez! Quote
Mr. Happy Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 I was at the Doom post mortem and it was really cool, I would recommend watching. It was cool to see the room that forced them to use BSP, and the old demos, and whatnot. Quote
Warby Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 watched the "another world" and "bejeweled" ones on to DOOM ! these are pure gold i highly recommend them to everyone ! Quote
Mazy Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 Just saw the one on Doom. All respect to Hall, but I would have preferred it if it was just Romero that had the talk. Most of his comments kinda derailed it. Anyway, Doom Alphas = OSSIM! Makes me wanna read Masters of Doom again Quote
ChopperDave Posted March 25, 2011 Report Posted March 25, 2011 Anyone know how to view these slides? I opened a presentation.xml with Powerpoint '07 and it says it doesn't recognize some of the XML objects and fails. Quote
AlexM Posted March 26, 2011 Author Report Posted March 26, 2011 Microsoft has a standalone powerpoint viewer that might work. It's free too. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/d ... laylang=en Quote
ChopperDave Posted March 26, 2011 Report Posted March 26, 2011 Is that what you used to view them? I'd be incredibly surprised if that worked but the full version of Powerpoint didn't. I don't know about this version, but I know the 2010 viewer won't open XML, only ppt files. Quote
AlexM Posted March 26, 2011 Author Report Posted March 26, 2011 Havent tried looking at any slides on GDC, I just read the ones that go along with the video. That's just what I've used in the past to view ppt slides that OpenOffice butchers. Quote
Mazy Posted March 26, 2011 Report Posted March 26, 2011 Hmmm I had similar problems with the slides when I tried checking them out last year, never really got em working. This time I'm just checking the free post mortems, really ought to get a login for the rest of this stuff, some of it looks pretty good. Btw, both the Prince of Persia and Populus ones are quite good~ Quote
