Minos Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 Fight Club generation : The 20th Century Fox buys the rights of a novel to make a controversial movie debunking mass marketing medias and consumerism ????? oh yes, manhood; the phantasm goes on, that sells; real men rediscover their virility with another bunch of muscular oiled men in a basement edit : i just learned that Chuck Palahniuk, the writer of "fight club" the novel is actually gay, which is actually quite funny if you rewatch fight club with that idea in head : A schizophrenic guy who reject the role society gives him and creates a "network" of men in a basement and make pink soaps to finance the organisation ? Actually it might be a movie about the sexual liberation of the gay community :x ( For the gay people here, nothing against that, but i would actually find it especially funny because of the lecture straight men have of this movie ) edit : Please excuse me, but this is actually too funny, some quotes : -The first rule of Fight Club is: You do not talk about Fight Club. The second rule of Fight Club is: You do not talk about Fight Club. -Self-improvement is masturbation. Now, self-destruction … -If we are God's unwanted children, so be it! -I'm wondering if another woman is the answer we really need. -You have to consider the possibility that God does not like you, never wanted you, in all probability he hates you. It's not the worst thing that could happen. -All the ways you wish you could be, that's me. I look like you wanna look, I fuck like you wanna fuck, I am smart, capable, and most importantly, I am free in all the ways that you are not. -Listen up, maggots. You are not special. You are not a beautiful or unique snowflake. You're the same decaying organic matter as everything else. -With a gun barrel between your teeth, you speak only in vowels. -Without pain, without sacrifice, we would have nothing. I'll need the opinion of someone gay, but i don't know one that will tell me he is, so I'll never know; but if it's like i think, omg.. this is genius.. I always had this theory too. Their relationship seems like a marriage to me and there's even a quote in the movie that most of the week they acted like a couple or something. Also, check out these deleted scenes, I think they removed these two because they were borderline homo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MuofxQqz0YY Quote
KoKo5oVaR Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 And mhh Tyler : I am Jack's colon lol This would actually makes the movie much much more interesting imo, especially for its reception by the macho guys out there ... i have to rewatch it edit : LOL sorry guys 1st RULE: You do not talk about F*CK CLUB. 2nd RULE: You DO NOT talk about F*CK CLUB. 3rd RULE: If someone says "stop" or goes limp, taps out the f*ck is over. 4th RULE: Only two guys to a f*ck. 5th RULE: One f*ck at a time. 6th RULE: No shirts, no shoes. 7th RULE: F*cks will go on as long as they have to. 8th RULE: If this is your first night at F*CK CLUB, you HAVE to f*ck. What is amazing after a bit of research over the net, is that i can't find any gay people stating clearly that this is a movie about the gay community. They only subtly imply it. It blows my mind Quote
Zyn Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 A bit late to the party but I started watching Trailer Park Boys lately, currently on season 3, and I love it, it's hilarious. Quote
insta Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 The hunt for Red October was a metaphor for the transsexuals rights to travel on buses. Quote
PogoP Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 Or alternatively, it's just a film about fighting and you two are expressing your own homosexual urges by slapping homosexual themes on top of a fairly straight film about fighting. Edit - But yeah, I see what you mean. Quote
Steppenwolf Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 A bit late to the party but I started watching Trailer Park Boys lately, currently on season 3, and I love it, it's hilarious. I love TPB. One of the best comedy shows ever. It's also worth rewatching. There are so many funny details hidden that you will only notice on the second or third rewatch. Quote
Sentura Posted April 5, 2012 Report Posted April 5, 2012 Or alternatively, it's just a film about fighting and you two are expressing your own homosexual urges by slapping homosexual themes on top of a fairly straight film about fighting. Edit - But yeah, I see what you mean. yeah i was thinking this: maybe you're putting too much weight into this. but even as i watched it, and even though i figured that tyler wasn't real before the movie told you, some of the first conversations they had were pretty weird, like when he brings up that they are a generation of men brought up by women - it has been thought of for a while that men who were brought up by women had a greater chance of becoming homosexual than otherwise. also the fact that he chooses to call the girl, but then hangs up, then calls tyler. and the fact that tyler splits movie reels to make room for one frame of a penis or whatever. anyway the non-subliminal message of "it's only when you have lost everything you realize you are free to do anything" really spoke to me, so i'm really glad i watched it. Minos Posted April 5, 2012 Report Posted April 5, 2012 Guys, stop this right now and go read the book! It's awesome. The tone is much different than the movie, it's a lot funnier and more fucked up. Quote
