I went to see La La Land like a favour to this girl that I'm dating and I quite enjoyed the movie. I expected a corny musical and it turned out to be much better than that. Plus I got laid so all in all: 8/10 - would watch again. TheOnlyDoubleF, Sprony and Sentura 3 Quote
Sprony Posted January 23, 2017 Report Posted January 23, 2017 A flat out, stone cold, science fiction masterpiece that, as a father, broke my heart in ways that no movie has ever done before. Compelling from start to finish. Truly a work of art. Quote

Radu Posted January 23, 2017 Report Posted January 23, 2017 (edited) Finally managed to see Fantastic Beasts and Where to find them and Arrival. I gotta say, J.K. Rowling sure knows how to write a good story; but you gotta give credit to the actors too. Dan Fogler, in the role of Kowalski, does an amazing job. As for Arrival, I have never left the cinema feeling so depressed. It was a captivating film, with an interesting theme: the relativity of time, that kept me on the edge of the seat for more, but it utterly breaks you by the end. When the credits started rolling and they turned on the lights I looked back at everyone in the room. It was like being at a funeral. Everyone just walked out silently. They also foreshadowed… well spelled out, who the"baddie" was in the opening scene cut. And the baddie was arguably one, from my point of view. Rowling might be good at writing books, I dunno, haven't read (and don't plan to) any; as a scriptwriter, I think she sucks. ~ Watched Luke Cage and finally also Daredevil S2. Quite liked both, but a bit disappointed as well, DD in particular I found losing all its momentum after 3-4 episodes. The ending in particular was not up to par to three best bits. Finished watching Sneaky Pete with the gf, I was happily surprised quite early in the season, but toward the end the pacing felt almost like there best bits in Breaking Bad. And Bryan Cranston had more screen time that I expected. Still quite a light show but good. Just been tonight to the Aladdin musical. I always thought I don't like these things but was very enjoyable. And on a side note, I think theatre and musical are great reference for game designers and artists, what they achieve in such limited space and "layers" is impressive. Quote
Deathy Posted February 2, 2017 Report Posted February 2, 2017 The Man in the High Castle & Mr. Robot. Really looking forward to both season 3s. For Mr. Robot, although I have to admit, that time jumps and non-linear storytelling can be awesome, it is sometimes fucked up. Especially if you chop bits in various orders spread over several episodes. I'm also annoyed by some of the characters, I'd love to just embrace them. Definitely liked S1 more, because it was less drama and more tech-savvy "cool" stuff. Radu 1 Quote
corugnoll Posted February 16, 2017 Report Posted February 16, 2017 (edited) Watched John Wick 2 yesterday. Decent movie, better than the first one which got a little dull after some time (even though it had pretty cool stuff). Second one keeps the good stuff and improves on where the first one lacked imo. On monday I went to see Split. Oh man... i was almost ready to be hyped for a Shyamalan movie again, since The Visit was really good imo. Well... what a let down. I guess its even worse than the happening for me... nothing there worked. I was bored from start to finish, the way some of the story-telling was handled just left me puzzled on if he forgot everything he knows about movies. Those trailers basically spoiling the whole movie, probably didnt help either. So sad. Edited February 16, 2017 by corugnoll Quote
will2k Posted February 21, 2017 Report Posted February 21, 2017 Narcos I was impressed by the performance of "Wagner Moura" portraying Pablo Escobar. I searched for his other works, found out he's an established actor in Brazil, watched 2 of his recent movies (Elite Squad and its sequel); ended up even more impressed with his performance and commanding presence on screen FMPONE 1 Quote

Puddy Posted February 21, 2017 Report Posted February 21, 2017 Rewatched Aliens. I found it entertaining the first time but thought it was too different from Alien in tone. Watching it again, with the right expectations, was absolutely wonderful. Such a great film. -HP- and Sprony 2 Quote
WD Posted February 21, 2017 Report Posted February 21, 2017 Today is the day I finished watching Star Trek. I watched every episode of everything ever filmed. Took me three years, I usually just put on a episode whenever I felt like it. All I can say is that some of them were good some others were bad. There should be a new series coming this year! Can't wait to see more! Quote
