laminutederire Posted June 30, 2015 Report Posted June 30, 2015 Season opening of Mr Robot, would recommend!I planned to watch it tonight, but I wanted to ask anyway: does it live up to expectations? (I mean, it was rated 9 stars on imdb, while it wasn't even out yet for instance...) Quote
AtsEst Posted June 30, 2015 Report Posted June 30, 2015 I planned to watch it tonight, but I wanted to ask anyway: does it live up to expectations? (I mean, it was rated 9 stars on imdb, while it wasn't even out yet for instance...)I first heard about the show from a fb wall post, so I had little to no expectations, but yeah imdb ratings persuaded me to give it a go and I was not disappointed (in the first episode) as in: it was worth my time. But I would off on further evaluation until a later date. laminutederire 1 Quote
Deathy Posted June 30, 2015 Report Posted June 30, 2015 Have watched Child 44 today, rather spontaneously and I like it a lot. Finally a movie that actually tells a story and the setting was really cool (post WW2 soviet russia). Quote
blackdog Posted July 7, 2015 Report Posted July 7, 2015 Nightcrawler.Imagine the tension of the first minutes of Drive, and stretch it for a whole movie. That's basically what this is.It was on my list, I put it quite some time ago, don't even know if I had seen a trailer or put it there because of Jake Gyllenhaal, so went in without any particular expectation. I'm really really satisfied. The quite realistic take on this makes me think only of another movie, in which Gyllenhaal stars: End Of Watch (which was insanely good as well).I must confess that I really like this guy, I think he's managing to show how flexible he his movie after movie; here sporting as a clearly disturbed person, definitely autistic, but I'm sure there's more to him. jackophant 1 Quote
blackdog Posted July 8, 2015 Report Posted July 8, 2015 The SignalI can't believe the ratings, great sci-fi movie imo. Has a strong "Chronicle" vibe to it, for the whole indie-drama presentation it starts with.I wouldn't watch the trailer, as the first I've found on google is a bit spoilerous, don't remember the one I saw being like that. TheOnlyDoubleF Posted July 13, 2015 Report Posted July 13, 2015 I've finished the first season of DeadWood. The show is really really good! Characters and actors are insane and the whole thing is well written. Already started season 2. I highly recommend. Quote
blackdog Posted August 1, 2015 Report Posted August 1, 2015 Watched several things without posting about it.X-Men trilogy, yes I've never seen it: was quite disappointing, I'm particularly annoyed with Wolverine, I know he's a fan favourite, the character is a badass… but in the movies is incredibly under-developed and under-used if you think that he's probably the Marvel hero with the most screen time to date!!! None of the 3 movies struck me particularly, they only have good moments (like X2 the Nightcrawler intro). Also I hate the Jane Grey character, that woman annoys me just because of her, her whiny character didn't change anything.Elysium: seen that last night and fuck… it's sci-porn, awesome visuals but an incredibly dull story with no real twists. Jodie Foster is particularly bad in acting and annoying-empty character, I'm happy she dies violently. jackophant 1 Quote

jackophant Posted August 3, 2015 Report Posted August 3, 2015 Watched Riddick on Saturday... Don't know why I bothered. So many obvious "sit on this machine in front of green screen" scenes. Didnt even try to get the floor in for some idea of grounding, just head and shoulders and deep grumbling for most of the fucking film.@blackdog I like the cut of your jib, pretty much echoed my feels for all your mentioned films + I have a total gyllenhaal man crush Quote
Vaya Posted August 3, 2015 Report Posted August 3, 2015 inside-out (GFs request ) yesterday at the cameo in edinburgh:Awesome cinema. Film was a bit tedious- couple funny bits but didn't really enjoy. Maybe I should stop letting her take me to kids films. jackophant and Pampers 2 Quote
jackophant Posted August 3, 2015 Report Posted August 3, 2015 @Vaya I love taking the mrs to watch pixar films. Never give in! How else are you going to get that extra screen time? blackdog 1 Quote
blackdog Posted August 4, 2015 Report Posted August 4, 2015 (edited) Yeah I dunno if I mentioned I went to see Minions at the cinema weeks ago. It wasn't incredibly fun but something real nice to watch with the miss. Then Minions kidnapped me!We are planning to go see the Inside Out and Secret Life Of Pets Edited August 4, 2015 by blackdog Sprony 1 Quote
will2k Posted August 7, 2015 Report Posted August 7, 2015 (edited) Whiplashhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7d_jQycdQGoJK Simmons (AKA Cave Johnson ) is simply astonishing in his performance and diction.Highly recommended to watch (added bonus if you are a Jazz fan) Edited August 7, 2015 by will2k Quote
blackdog Posted August 7, 2015 Report Posted August 7, 2015 Whiplash is in my list, just waiting to be in the right mood.Furious 7I can't decide if this shit is worse than the 6 or not. They have gone way too far already, stuff on screen is so absurd is not even enjoyable, just makes you go "bhoaaa come on". Also I think that Statham's casting was completely off, he just doesn't feel like a villain, he always find the crew even if he's supposed not to know where they are (how the hell did he knew to find them in the Emirates? at least in FF6 there was the double agent...). Djmon is there only to say "Fire", poor guy, and Tyrese has become such an annoying character, he's there just to remind us what went down in previous chapters and make you notice how bigger bollocks they've come up this time.Edge Of TomorrowI had incredibly low expectations when it was coming out, I remember saying to a friend "ready for the worst movie of the year?" but I was pleasantly surprised to find that the movie is very enjoyable. Then maybe it's also I am in need of testosterone filled stuff since I'm pretty stressed. Anyway, good popcorn.Pacific RimMaybe cos yesterday I was really angry with the world, but found it awesome (at release I was like "that's such bullshit movie"). Quote
