Sprony Posted January 24, 2015 Report Posted January 24, 2015 When suffering from insomnia you might as well use the time to watch some good movies. I've revisited John Carpenter's The Thing. I hadn't seen it in years but I still have fond memories about it. I didn't actually plan to watch the whole movie but once I pressed play I knew I couldn't stop. Even after all these decades it hasn't lost any of it's charm and it's still and excellent horror movie. Even the effects remain impressive. So I'll leave you guys with this: Quote
Tisky Posted January 27, 2015 Report Posted January 27, 2015 The Strain, Season one. Was not what i expected. My god i love this show! Awesome characters, great story, co-written by Guillermo del Toro! Sure, it has its flaws but if you have not watched it, do it. It's not what you expect it to be at first. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DqcuyXeN8O8 Quote
Skjalg Posted January 27, 2015 Report Posted January 27, 2015 (edited) uh what? The strain has some really bad acting, the story is super cliche (at least the first 4-5 episodes, I havent seen more), and the monster is hilarious. I mean, after he bashes the guys head (that part was cool) in after sucking all of his blood he runs down the corridor like zoidberg woobwoobwoob hahah fucking ridicilous Edited January 27, 2015 by Skjalg Vaya and PogoP 2 Quote
Tisky Posted January 27, 2015 Report Posted January 27, 2015 (edited) I think it was okay until after episode 7. After that, omg. Hooked. I take it that you haven't met the awesome mr.quinley and his team. Edited January 27, 2015 by Tisky Quote
Skjalg Posted January 27, 2015 Report Posted January 27, 2015 No I only watched a few episodes. So you're saying I should give it a second chance? Probably better than watching really random series I guess. Or giving Gotham/Arrow another chance.. Quote
PaulH Posted January 28, 2015 Report Posted January 28, 2015 I also gave up around episode 5 of the Strain, the pilot was interesting but it descended into something pretty average after that Quote
dux Posted January 28, 2015 Author Report Posted January 28, 2015 Re-watched Band of Brothers for like the 20th time Sprony, blackdog and Trikz 3 Quote
blackdog Posted January 28, 2015 Report Posted January 28, 2015 Recovered the box-set from my uncle last time I was in Italy… I was tempted to bring it over because felt like watching it again as well, then I gave priority to Prosecco bottles Quote
Trikz Posted January 30, 2015 Report Posted January 30, 2015 Re-watched Band of Brothers for like the 20th time I started going through it again recently, it just never ever dissapoints no matter how many times i watch it I need to rewatch The Pacific, only watched that series once when it was being shown on TV was pretty good but its hard to beat BoB. Mighty Eigth, their next series will be out at somepoint hopefully soon as well! Looking forward to that will be nice to see things from an airforce perspective. Quote

I think the characters and their development in BoB is what makes it so much better. Didn't know HBO was making another ww2 mini series, sounds promising. Quote
Trikz Posted January 30, 2015 Report Posted January 30, 2015 Agreed JAL, I had much more of an interest in the characters in BoB but i am personally a bit more interested in that part of the war compared to the pacific campaign.
