So Mirror's Edge 2...

Well big fat fuck at other people having a different taste then me.

ME is one of my favourite games of all time. I literally went out and bought it the day after I played trough it. And when it got cheaper I bought copies for a couple of friends. I even bought the dammed DLC. I don't blame Dice or EA for cancelling it, not many seemed to like the game.

Hardly surprising, sadly. Like Dead Space it would probably end up way better in a sequel, and considering that the first ME was already a terrific achievement on so many levels then it was definitely something to be excited for, but I guess we'll never know. I do find it puzzling that EA took the chance with DS but not with ME, guess DS did better business than ME in the end.

Gutted to hear it's a no-go. Had a small hope alive that it might one day see the light of day. I really adored the first game, and still bust it out once in a while for a wee go at the time trials or speed runs. Alongside Dead Space it was probably the game of the year for me.

It made me angry in quite a few places (bad gunplay, some finicky parts where Faith wouldn't grab on to the bit I needed), but the parts of ME that worked were very, very cool. I'm sure they could've delivered a much better experience the second time around and it's a real shame that it's not going to happen :(

The art was so cool, too.

":2lddheu5]Mirror's edge was one of the most original titles of the latest years for me. But obviously, there's no killstreacks, coronel super duper promotions and tango downs therefor, canned.

Sad to see this series go =(.

I think it came down more to the timing of the release more than anything else. They lumped it in along with all the other holiday heavy hitter games that year. Having released it in the summer or the spring, I think it would have made a bigger impact (games like Batman: AA come to mind). Also, I think for new risky IPs such as this, they shouldn't be charging full price, they should go with something closer to 39.99$/49.99$, it would create a better incentive for people to buy it I think? Though true, the fact that it was an first-person game, a lot of people were like why doesn't it control like an FPS, why do the guns suck, but they miss the point of the game completely?!? Hell, even my game design teacher last semester was railing on the game, because ME changed the "standard" FPS control scheme. I mean, how can you innovate if you keep yourself bounded by those "standard" controls =/.
